Love this: “It’s going to come down to making basketball plays and competing,’’ Lillard said. “Referees are going to do whatever they want to do. (Houston) can call whatever play they want, and I already know what it is … so it’s going to come to a point where it’s not going to matter anymore. It’s going to come down to playing basketball. We just have to keep competing. That’s all that matters.’’
This. And give credit to Portland. They didn't ever give up. They went 13 down twice. It didn't change their phsyiology state. LA is what really stood out the most. No matter what Houston did. He was poised, confident and together all game long. He has always been known as being soft. He showed anything but last night.
He has the right attitude. Everyone said the NBA wouldn't let the 2011 LAkers lose, but Dallas ignored bad calls and swept them.
We already know that Dwight Howard is mentally soft, and now it seems even Chandler Parsons is still whining about the refs today. Meanwhile, the Blazers have put Game One behind them, and Game Two is the focus. I think the Rockets are a mentally weak team, and their fans mimic their players.
Let's hope so! I tend to agree with Mags prediction that if we can steal this game, the Rockets will break, and we can sweep.
Yeah... Harden is a bitch, but has the champion swag, McHale is a mental coaching midget. But the key is Howard. He gives up when the pressure is on. This is why he gave up on Los Angeles and Orlando. He wants to be a superstar, but can't handle the responsibility of being one.
Wow, pretty cocky after just one very close win are we? Be careful, the karma Gods are watching this forum closely.
Huh? I made no prediction, only an observation about Howard. He's a quitter, which means to me he is mentally soft.
You cawky SOB. :MARIS61: Actually, I agree with Papa's observation. Either a few of the Rockets are mentally soft, or they're doing everything they can to work over the refs BEFORE game 2. Which, ultimately leads me to believe they're mentally soft (like their fans, but then again, Blazers fans aren't often far behind). If Houston loses game 2, I suspect they crumble.
Didn't say you made a prediction. The Blazers won by 2 in OT, could have gone either way. And if Portland had lost I doubt you'd be calling the entire Houston team mentally weak.
I've thought Howard was mentally week for years. I'm not sure how that makes me cocky, but you're on a roll, so go with it!
Probably the wrong choice of words and probably shouldn't have directed it at any one poster in particular, rather the entire board. It was meant tongue-in-cheek anyways so I should have put a smiley. I can go back and edit that in if that'll make you feel better?
