Scotland is smaller than 40 of our states, so like many European countries it's of little consequence.
Many of Parliament's Labor votes are Scots. With a more Tory government, the remaining U.K. will more eagerly join the U.S. in torture wars. Good news!
I love the idea of an independent Scotland. My guess is, however, after a few decades of having to pay for their own generous welfare state, they will seek reunification. And if Scotland goes, so does the Labour Party. The right will be UKIP and the left will be the Tories. Fascinating. The closest parallel of which I can think is the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. It turned out to be good for both countries. I hope it does here as well.
I'm more interested in seeing what becomes of the Union Jack than I am in Scottish independence. If they want it, have at it.
March 24, 2016 targeted as Scottish Independence Day should the Yes vote win. Some pollsters predicting that it will by as much as 8-10%.
