Re: Scout: Vince Young Runs "Slow" 40-Yard Dash <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Quarterback Vince Young was timed in 4.58 seconds in the 40-yard dash Wednesday on what is considered a fast track at the University of Texas in Austin, one NFL scout told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. The scout said Young's time was slower than anticipated. According to the same scout, Young's overall workout was "fairly impressive," but the scout said that Young was not asked to make certain drops and throws that he would have to perform in a private team workout.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft06/news/story?id=2380236</div>Hmm.. This is gonna be very interesting, i have absoultely no idea where he will end up at
Re: Scout: Vince Young Runs "Slow" 40-Yard Dash I think he's faster in game speed though. I heard he was accurate in his passes as well.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Young threw 55 passes with five incomplete and one drop. He used four wide receivers. They were Texas teammates David Thomas, Ahmard Hall, Brian Carter and former high school teammate and Idaho player Daniel Smith. Young caught one pass on a trick play.?I feel like I did a good job. I stayed relaxed, poised and had fun,? Young said. ?You hear so much that 'Vince is not working out. Vince is not doing this and that.' I wanted to go out and show them that I am working out.?</div>
Re: Scout: Vince Young Runs "Slow" 40-Yard Dash I wish I had a QB that "slow." I think he translates it well to the game, though. I mean, there's CBs out there that run 4.2 40s who are always playing catchup and what not.
Re: Scout: Vince Young Runs "Slow" 40-Yard Dash Basically he ran exactly what McNabb ran, but he was expected to run almost a 4.45 so it is a dissapointment in that sense......to be honest, I have him Ranked as my #3 QB in this draft after Leinart and Cutler
Re: Scout: Vince Young Runs "Slow" 40-Yard Dash Teams are going out and slapping Young down, why? Because they WANT him to drop in the draft. They want to nab him at their spot..so they create this huge cloud of doubt around Young so he might drop down to them. It makes all the sense in the world. That's just my opinion though, and probably just a crazy conspiracy at that.

Which means that he is very raw talent. His mechanics leave alot left to be desired, he takes off and runs too much (even when he is ineffective at running the ball he keeps on doing it), He clearly isnt very bright....which is shown not just by his wonderlic tests, but by every single interview of him. Not to mention that Vince was clearly unprepared for the biggest week in his life at the NFL Combine, and now....he ran a slow 40 time for a 'Scrambleing QB', which is a killer to his stock in itself. It's not that Vince Young is really 'dropping', its that teams are realizing that he was never worthy of the top 5 pick in the first place and that he was hyped up because of one good game against one average defense (48th in the country) in USC.I expect him to end up going #10 to Arizona unless a team like Baltimore trades up for him.
Re: Scout: Vince Young Runs "Slow" 40-Yard Dash I agree with you about him not seeming smart in interviews and etc, but on the field I don't think you can question him. He led Texas over USC ALL BY HIMSELF.I think seeing where Young goes is what intriges me most about the upcoming draft, he could literally go anywhere, and i'm not even going to guess where...OK I am..I think he goes to #7 at Oakland.I know if I was a GM though there is no way he'd be behind Cutler on my board. And if I desperately needed a QB I wouldnt think twice about passing him up. However, with so much talent in the first 10 picks.he may fall for that reason. Any other draft I think he's a definate top 5 pick.

As a defense they are small, and slow at several positions and the average fan couldnt name a single player on the defense outside of Darnell Bing, which allowed Vince Young (who is big and 'fast') to run all over them I have Cutler ahead of Young on my board. Cutler has better mechanics, he is much smarter and more cerebral about the game then Young is, and has just as impressive an arm as Young does. Not to mention that Cutler has more experiance starting for 4 seasons, being a 3-time team captain, and the SEC Offensive Player of the Year last season. His college production is less, but alot of that has to do with the fact of the talent level around Cutler, and that the SEC has the best defenses in College Football, whereas the Big 12 is more of an offensive conference.
Re: Scout: Vince Young Runs "Slow" 40-Yard Dash You make a good argument, but me personally I go with what I know and what I see. I saw what Vince Young did all season long, I'm not seeing the reasons people are high on Cutler. It's the same story every year around this time. GM's and the Media have so much time to examine these things they end up creating something that isn't there.I don't think Cutler is going to be anything more then a Jake Plummer in Arizona, because he hasn't shown much.Vince Young could be the next big thing, he can keep defenses honest and give them fits with his running ability. Even if he ends up being somebody like a Steve McNair(former MVP..got to the Super Bowl) I think thats a heck of a lot better then what people are saying.
Re: Scout: Vince Young Runs "Slow" 40-Yard Dash Best QB coming out of this draft is Lienhart. Cutler and Young will both be busts. Not saying Lienhart will be an amazing QB, but I think he has the best head on his shoulders, which will make him the best outta this draft class.
Re: Scout: Vince Young Runs "Slow" 40-Yard Dash I think his love for the game with his adrenal feelings make him faster in the game.
