<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Miami Beach Police Department's newest reserve officer trainee is seven foot one inch, 325 pounds and earns around $30 million a year in his real job. He's Shaquille O'Neal, 32, star center for the Miami Heat. Beach Police Chief Don De Lucca confirmed Friday that O'Neal will join his 386-member force -- as a heat-packing, $1-a-year volunteer. ''He loves police work, he's dedicated to it, and he takes it very seriously,'' De Lucca said. ``If he wasn't a basketball player, I really believe he'd be a cop.'' It's a win for MBPD, De Lucca added. ''He's an incredible role model for children. And it's great for recruitment.'' Besides, Shaq is a Beach resident -- he owns a $19.8 million home on Star Island. ''We're pretty flexible with his schedule,'' De Lucca said. O'Neal should be ready for street patrol by early next year -- with full police powers and a SIG Sauer 40-caliber pistol. Beach reservists are fully certified police officers who work part time -- a minimum of 10 hours a month -- to augment the force for regular duty and special events. </div> More here: http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/9992774.htm?1c Imagine getting pulled over for speeding and have Shaq walk up and ask for your license and registration . Now Shaq will get to arrest Melo when the Nuggets come to town and he'll arrest Jason Kidd for beating his wife when the Nets come to Miami .
I think this is straight BS. Why the hell would a francise that pays someone that much let him part-time in the most dangerous occupation out there. Who-ever believes this has to be a total moran.

Ok, you can actually talk to a mod and get my title labeled as moran it this happens. There is now friggin way that Shaq is going to be a real off duty in his spare time or on the off season. Hmmmm, Shaq spare time spends with family. Hmmmm, off-season, keeps in shape and spends time w/ family.

When Shaq was playing for the Lakers and lived in LA, he was a part-time police officer with the LAPD. This story was all over the local news in South Florida and they even did a segment about it on SportsCenter last week. Shaq has also stated that when he retired from playing basketball he wants to be the police chief in Miami or LA.
Wow when I read the headline I thought you were joking, that is funny stuff. All I know is I wouldn't want to get taken down by him. Pure
Need4Sheed is now an official moron.. How can you not believe it? Shaq has stated multiple times when he retires he would like to go into the police force, and why not do it part time when you can?
I wouldn't want to mess with Shaq unless I had a mighty powerful handgun. I want to see him take down a child molestor and put him in a headlock and say who's your Diesel? That would be so funny.
rofl at both shaq and need4sheed! seriously, imagine shaq sitting down on a crack dealer waiting for reinforcements. that would be funny. i wonder if shaq would be at customs, checking through kobe's bag for weed.

O'Neal is a commissioned officer in the Los Angeles area and sometimes accompanies local deputies on raids. Col.
