Parker, 21, finished ahead of France's women's handball team, who won the world championship in Croatia a week ago, and athlete Eunice Barber, crowned long jump world champion in Paris in August.

"Since 1946 when l'Equipe named its first French champion of the year, no basketball player has won," l'Equipe said.

"Tony Parker is the first as he always was. Because on June 15 he became the first Frenchman to become NBA champion with the San Antonio Spurs. That day, he walked on the moon." </div>

No surprise there. Just like Manu in Argentina, this guy is a god back in his home country.

It's too bad what got him to become unselfish. Let me quote my buddy SirDes, "The threat of Jason Kidd". I respect and like him somewhat though, he tries hard and is definitely a force on that great team.
