Vince Carter: "I don't wanna dunk anymore"

Source: FAN 590

During Practice today, Carter was throwing down dunk after dunk. After practice, when the reporters had their short interview sessions with the players, one reporter asked a question to Carter, regarding dunking, and why he doesn't dunk as often.

Carter replied by saying "I don't wanna dunk anymore". Then when the reporter asked "why not"? VC said "for what?". The Reporter said something about him being able to get fouls and then Vince said that he can do a layup and get fouled.

IMO, Vince is to scared to dunk now. He's soft. He pulls up 8 feet away from the basket and shoots a fadeaway, when he can use his quickness and leaping ability(which he still has), to dunk on people.

Hehe, that sure contradicts your signature. Vince Carter is no longer "dangerous". If he keeps playing the way he currently is; he'd average 8 points per game this season.

My sig has nothing to do with him dunking. He's still a threat scoring wise, and can light it up during any giving time, and take over game. Thus, making him dangerous. Still Dangerous, because he's always been dangerous, but people haven't thought of him that way over the past few seasons because of injuries and what not.

Either he was joking or the perception that people have about his game is having an affect on him. Hes trying to figure out how he can appear to be a better player in the eyes of his critics. These are the presures that come with being a big dunker, you must prove your a complete player. He just has to play his game and put in work and just be himself.

i really want to know why he doesn't want to dunk nemore...
i know he wants to be a complete and all around player and all...
but that doesn't mean u have to stop dunking [IMG]

He also went on to say that "dunking is overrated".

He said he doesn't have to dunk, and other players on the team can dunk, like Chris (Bosh), and Lamond (Murray).

its worth 2 points just like those fade away jumpshot he takes all the time...
wow...he has to realize dunking is a high percentage shot and instead of taking fae aways he should go in and dunk bc they r worth the same [IMG]

Maybe he meant that he didn't wanna dunk in the practice anymore because the reporter asked him to do something? Like a 360 or a windmill? It's like the "mom effect", you are doing something and your mom tells you to do something and you don't wanna do it because someone else told you to do so. In any case, it doesn't matter because Carter will be wearing some other uniform pretty soon.

No, stop trying to twist this around. This was after practice, when the reporters came to ask something about him not dunking anymore in games, he replied with "I don't wanna dunk anymore".

Okay you didn't clarify that in your first post. You just said "During Practice today, Carter was throwing down dunk after dunk, and when the reporters came to ask him something regarding dunking," how the hell am I supposed to know if the reporter asked him before or after the practice? I can care less about Vince dunking as long as the Raps win and I'm not trying to twist it around.

It's not like we didn't know this already :P

Seriosuly though, look at all the chances he's had to dunk when in traffic and the lane was clear but did a little floater, it's pretty obvious.

Vince is like a non-factor in Raps offense these days anyway... I had urges to yell out "Go to the f'in basket and finish strong" but after watching lethargic game after even worse game I just don't care anymore. CB4 is the next franchise, period.

This is what upsets me the most about any athlete with the ability to do something good and doesn't fulfill it. I am at the point of anger with him, that I would trade him for a bag of basketballs because he is completely useless. His child-like attitude and his work ethic make me sick, I really hope he gets traded within the next week or so.

Look at Lamond Murray, he has talent that's nowhere close to Carter's and he almost single-handedly won the game yesterday for us. This is what everyone keeps saying, that if Carter was even half determined and had half the size of Michael Jordan's heart then he would have become a true superstar. I'm not gonna drag on about the whole comparison though, it's too late.

Vince Carter's jawdropping dunks may be a thing of the past.

Sportsnet.ca -- The human highlight reel known as Vinsanity has been replaced by after-school specials.

Toronto Raptors superstar Vince Carter, struggling through his worst season ever, said his dunking days are all but done.

"I don't want to dunk anymore," Carter told Sportsnet.

Although he asserted that his skills haven't diminished, Carter said dunking is overrated and unnecessary.

"You can make a layup and reach the free throw line," said Carter, who is averaging 3.18 free throws a game this season, well below the seven he averaged during his best offensive years from 1999 to 2001. His 14.5 points per game is also his lowest average since becoming a professional.

He's not making much sense. He says "You can make a layup and reach the free throw line," but can he really make a layup, nevermind getting the and 1? The numbers speak for themselves. 3.18 freethrows per game isn't exactly depicting what he claimed.

Trade this cancer already.
He is utterly useless right now and is bringing but negativity to the team. Toronto really is starting to disown him now. When he comes back to Toronto after he gets traded, I really hope people boo him for the way and the manner in which he left. Atleast play to what you're capable of. What a baby. I'm starting to have more respect for T-Mac for the way he handled the Toronto situation then I do with Carter. He's just making himself look like a spoiled player who is washed up.

I knew there was something wrong with Vince, and its mostly the media that messed him up, and his shitty attitude. Media always told him hes just a dunker, so he had to mess up his whole game. That dunker formerly known as Vince was the most excitiing player ever. But then he turned into a piece of junk, that would rather do a layup, or a fadeaway 360, then to do a 360 windmill. Hes had injuries in the past. Now he is completely healthy. No more excuses. Get up and do what u do best. Drive, dunk, and dish. and did I mention dunk. I mean what is this bullshit, "Dunking is overrated".
