Bruins captain Zdeno Chara will return to the ice for the home preseason opener against the New York Islanders after missing time with a knee injury. Chara sat out the "Black and White" scrimmage Tuesday and the preseason opener Wednesday at Ottawa, which the Bruins lost 2-1 in overtime. He had suffered a contusion Monday when an errant clearing shot hit him in the right knee during practice. "I'm feeling good," Chara said. "I'm very glad that it wasn't [serious]. Obviously, it's something that you're a little worried about when it does happen, but I was pleased that it wasn't as bad as it looked. "The pain is just a factor that I can handle, but as far as the swelling and being able to have the full range of motion, that's the key." Chara has a basic game plan for Friday.
