The Official S2 NBA Lockout Thread!

I don't see how your logic demonstrates that Kobe (or others) are fracturing the solidarity of the union. In fact, it does the opposite. It is a further attempt to provide proof that the players can generate income without the owners during the lockout, and that there is a danger that some...

The Official S2 NBA Lockout Thread!

While it is true that neither Europe nor China can pay NBA-like salaries it does put pressure on the owners. Though Kobe and others will get paid less, they will still have both income and options. That was why the $2 million per game number was leaked; it was to establish Kobe's worth outside...

The Official S2 NBA Lockout Thread!

That's incorrect, PapaG. Players signing (or at least threatening to sign) with overseas teams is an attempt to put pressure on the owners. It's a demonstration that the star players have options, that the NBA isn't the proverbial "only game in town" for the players.

    Occupy Portland

There is something inherently sad about these protests. They don't resemble protests from the 60s, 70s, or even 80s when people were frustrated by meaningless repetitive work. No, this is far worse. This is a return to the pre-Industrial Revolution days when the masses protested for the right...

The Official S2 NBA Lockout Thread!

Larry Coon applying Game Theory as a model to the NBA lockout: http://espn.go.com/nba/conversations/_/id/7093569/how-prisoner-dilemma-relates-nba-lockout The upshot is that at that the two sides are continuing to posture when they should cooperate. This will likely continue until the...

The footage of Greg Oden possibly hurting his knee

No. Oden didn't land awkwardly. Sometimes a player will destroy his knee (Webber) on a single play. Oden's condition was likely damage from ongoing wear and tear (degenerative). However it does beg the question: What did Oden's rehab consist of? I'm assuming that he left knee was carefully...

    START BAYLESS!

Very true. That might be why Bayless demanded the trade. Perhaps (long term) he doesn't see himself developing into an NBA PG while having to share the floor with a ball dominant guard like BRoy. I see Bayless as a sparkplug guard off the bench. He'd probably be happy with that role (for...

Scout says Blazers better without Oden

Aldridge at the 5 won't get the Blazers to the finals... ever. That's what the scout neglected to say. I've been quiet, but to me the pressure should be on both Nate and the players to integrate Oden and Miller into the Blazer offense. Nate took the easy path sitting Miller after a rather...
