Stanley Cup Playoffs Round 1: Rangers vs Pens

To show you how crazy and unpredictable the NHL playoffs are, the Kings/Hawks/Ducks/NYR all lost in round 1. Crazy. Round 1 ended not so well for me in the West. 4-4 in the East. 1-4 in the West. Round 2: Blues in 6 over the Stars Sharks in 6 over the Preds TB in 7 over the Isles (total coin...

    Breakup Day Notes

I agree with you 100% Prod. This is exactly the blueprint we need to follow. Adding Skjei to the back end helps right away. Look for another swift skater and then you are onto something. And hopefully at least one of Staal/G are gone (I think that happens for sure...if both are back I would be...

    Breakup Day Notes

Who cares is my take. Be the bigger man, I get why Boyle did it, but who cares. He is now an ex-Ranger and will never put on the NYR sweater again...so to me nothing to see here. I firmly believe we'll see 6 or 7 new/different players on the team next year. And I 100% believe at least one of...

    Breakup Day Notes

Find a way Gorton = trade Staal Gorton...LOL.

    Official off-season thread

Bottom line on Yandle, and you said it yesterday Prod, either we move Staal or no shot we can bring Yandle back. So I won't even talk about it anymore. Until I see Staal moved OR even hear he is on the block, it is pointless to worry about Yandle. He won't be back if Staal is.

This Florida team is incredibly stupid

Unless we can really get something worthwhile OR can use Hayes as a chip to deal G/Staal OR he wants a crazy contract...I bring him back. 2 mill per TOPS. If he agrees I am okay with him at that number. Worth the potential reward I believe. Everything I have seen with this kid says lazy and...

There are no plans to get rid of Alain Vigneault

I think Ulf was D and PK. Arniel was PP and forwards I believe. Both have been mentioned for coaching jobs. We'll see if there are any changes. I would expect at least one...but who knows. To me it is simple with AV. He deserves to be back IMO, but he has got to be told we are going younger so...

There are no plans to get rid of Alain Vigneault

No doubt there are some concerns...but I think he deserves to be back next year. But he needs to learn from this year and follow some of the things I/we have mentioned.

    Official off-season thread

    A buyout of Girardi's contract would have the following cap hits (Cap Friendly): 16-17: $1.75 million 17-18: $2.75 million 18-19: $3.75 million 19-20: $3.75 million 20-21: $1.25 million 21-22: $1.25 million 22-23: $1.25 million 23-24: $1.25 million

This Florida team is incredibly stupid

That's why you make the big play for Stamkos if he is really going to leave TB. And tell us some other picks we should have made years ago strud...:). Hindsight is always 20/20.

There are no plans to get rid of Alain Vigneault

Agree 100% dump. And I think that is very fair. I also hope AV learned a couple of things this season. Everything I have read so far says the Rangers will try and get younger, so AV needs to play to that. Just by letting the UFA's walk we are getting younger. Moore out and Lindberg in. Boyle...

There are no plans to get rid of Alain Vigneault

That's the one shot. If the players bury him during exit interviews. And I think that is unlikely. We'll see though.

    Free agent targets

I agree with that, I am just saying if I had Lindberg AND Fast in my top 9 I would be concerned about scoring depth. I think it is too risky to have both up there to start with. I would love one on the 4th line for real good depth. Who knows though. We'll see how it all plays out over the next...

There are no plans to get rid of Alain Vigneault

And rightfully so IMO. It is the definition of kneejerk to fire a coach who for the first time here didn't at least make the ECF. And I say this as not a huge AV guy, and someone who is in the middle on him and would not be angry if he got fired. But I just don't think it is the right move or...

There are no plans to get rid of Alain Vigneault

Larry Brooks reports that the Rangers have no plans to dismiss Alain Vigneault as head coach. (NY Post) He writes that there is no indication from "anyone who counts" that the Rangers hold Vigneault responsible for the "disappointing finish or the difficult season that preceded it." (NY Post)...
