The coloring over the main render's face stops kind of abruptly so it looks a little bad. Otherwise, this is pretty darn nice.

The text is my only major complaint.

Render and BG seem low quality. Try sharpening the render. On the main GIMP dialog box, select the blur / sharpen tool -- it's on the last row, looks like a rain drop. Double click it and select sharpen and play with the Rate setting. Then just go over the render with the tool. It takes a while...

BG looks nice and the lighting seems pretty good. I don't really like the render set up and as mentioned, the text isn't good. Pretty nice though.

I like the coloring in V1 better. Looks nice. No major complaints.

Get rid of the floating head. Just because it's creative doesn't mean it's good. It just looks really stupid in there. I would completely redo the text to where it takes away from a lot of the emptiness on the left side--there's no need to jam the text in there in that small space. I'd also...

What program? I'd focus on improving your BGs right now. I suggest you go to deviantart.com and DL some better brush sets and look for tutorials to develop some techniques. These aren't too bad for a beginner.
