How does a post that specifically says Dame is "not a very good defender" imply that he's a plus defender? Quite obviously, he's saying that Dame would be an MVP-type if he were a plus defender, but that he's actually neither.

Buddy, I'm not sure what you're seeing. He dribbles with his left hand, and then the ball comes up to his right. The ball is spinning in his right hand, and the gather hasn't actually occurred yet. The gather occurs when his left hand comes up and joins his right hand--this moment right here...

Any that understand that the counting of steps doesn't begin until both hands are on the ball (or it's being palmed or the hand is underneath). The steps after the last dribble but before the second hand touches the ball are completely irrelevant.
