On Monday, construction crews working on an expansion to Oregon State’s Reser Stadium found a little bit more than just pay dirt while digging in the north end zone of the football field.
The crew uncovered a large intact femur of a mammoth that roamed the earth roughly 10,000 years ago according to a release from Oregon State University.
The discovery of the femur bone lead to researchers finding “quite a few bones, and dozens of pieces” according to Oregon State’s Loren Davis, an associate professor of anthropology at the school
who was called into action after the bone was uncovered.
