Brandon Roy is clearly the 1st option on offense. When we are down it's Brandon who gets us back into the game. He's dependable and always makes something happen.

LaMarcus Aldridge is not nearly as reliable. He doesn't have a go-to low post move and his mid-range jumper is inconsistent. IMO, he is definitely not a second option type. When we make our push for the title I can envision LMA being the third guy on offense.

Greg could be that guy down the road but he's obviously not ready, not even close. It took Amare an entire season after the injury to come back to his All-NBA form. Next year we'll see the explosive and agile Oden. Right now he can't finish in the paint. He's still awkward and obviously a long ways away psychologically.

With Raef's contract and all the young talent we have does KP go out and get a star quality SF that can be that second option? We have a great team now but I think we'd be even more dangerous with a real, legit 2nd option.

Aldridge needs to work on his ball handling skills. He actually made some moves to get some shots off but they looked forced. Work on that instead of trying to get three point range and he can be a go to guy IMO.

Things preventing LMA to be that guy:

*He has poor handles
*He doesn't drive
*Mediocre post game, but it can be so much better if he made an effort to not drift out.

This is his third year and he's still not that guy you can depend on. I really do think he's better suited as a 3rd option.

From what I can tell he doesn't seem to work on those issues. If that is something the team has encouraged, I am perplexed. I don't want him shooting 20 footers all day. Has anyone ever seen him face the basket, pump fake and then take it to the hole? I haven't. I have been in Vegas since he became a Blazer so I could have missed it I admit.

I agree that he needs to drive more and learn to physically dominate and be agressive going inside instead of settling for jumpers, but as for his handles, I think they're pretty decent for a 6'11" power forward. I don't want him bringing the ball up the floor, or going between his legs very often anyway.

They are not decent. He has a very high dribble and good handles are essential when driving the lane.

Didn't he take the ball all the way up the court with 6 seconds left (can't remember if 1st Q or halftime) and launched an airball 3 with a second left?
