I took the leap and got Lasik and it’s been pretty amazing - life changing!

However, my protective goggles slipped as I slept and pressed against my eye and holy motherfucking shit did I wake up with the gnarliest pain I’ve felt in a long time - eye was maroon. And I’m still pretty light sensitive until it heals. Doc gave me simple artificial tear eye drops.

Even with that experience I fully recommend this procedure if you’re on the fence. A lot easier than I expected - procedure took 10 minutes. The longest part of the procedure was prep (waiting for the Xanax to kick in).

All together, medication included, was $4,000 even.

The best money I’ve ever spent in my life!

Look for a doc that offers the iDesign procedure - this is the most advanced Lasik system. In fact, the measuring portion was taken directly from tech developed by the James Webb telescope.

Not to wish misfortune on anyone but….pray for cataract surgery. At least as good as LASIK. I came out of cataract surgery with 20/15 vision after being damn near blind. Driving at night is a lot better too. And I understand it is more “permanent “ than LASIK(?). And it’s covered by insurance.

Is that after insurance?or what was out of pocket?

Do you know the full cost it was without insurance?

Out of pocket - but it’s worth it.

For the results I would’ve paid double, that’s how good it is.

ICL is another option - implanted lense similar to cataract surgery. Lasik is more precise though

I’ve done it twice.

Downside is when you get lasik in your forties or so…even if you don’t use reading glasses you will instantly have to use them after the surgery. So you pick one or the other.

I have an astigmatism. Does lasik handle that?

That happened for my mom. Contacts all my life, and then cataract surgery has her no longer needing them. She was stoked!

I actually like wearing glasses.
Agreed.

You can lose that in a matter of three years. Be aware.

I had the old radial keratotomy which is the reason why I'm now blind in my left eye.

My mom is going through this exact thing right now, was going to get lasik but ended up with cataract surgery instead.

I took the plunge in the summer of 2020, had shredded my last pair of contacts right as the shutdowns happened, couldn't get in to see an eye doctor for an appointment and was annoyed by wearing a mask and it fogging up my glasses. It's seriously the best 4k I've spent on anything. To not have to worry about glasses or contacts when traveling, or just simply at night as I'm falling asleep. I'm still amazed that insurance won't pay anything for it, since it saves them money in the long run but oh well.

i had lasik done about 10 yrs ago. im naturally fidgety and they had to re-apply the pressure (vacuum prior to incision) a few times because i kept moving. My eyes were bloodshot red for like a month because a bunch of blood vessels burst, and i had dry eyes for a good year or so. Also had tons of trouble with seeing stars around headlights while driving at night.

don't recommend lasik unless it's a last resort.

( i went to a LASIK PLUS, in indiana)

My mother-in-law got Lasik at Kaiser and ended up going legally blind from it.

Incision? They actually cut open your eye?
