That's 83 scholarships by my count (which I didn't at all recheck) but that number is very fluid. I know that guys like Hoffman and Beard were walkons who were awarded scholarships, but don't know that those came with any guarantees of being renewed. Is Will Wallace no longer with the program? How many other guys will transfer or quit? Will all the recruits show? Will Heimuli go on his mission? Will Hamani Stevens return? Just something to think about while we wait a couple hundred days for it all to begin again.

Whats your Starting Offense and Defense?

Here is my best guess:
QB- Thomas
RB- LaMike
WR- Tuinei
WR- Huff
WR- Lowe/Hoffman/Cantu? (had trouble with this one)
TE- Paulson
OL- Asper
OL- Weems
OL- York
OL- Clanton
OL- Cody

Defense:
DE- Jordan
DT- Heimuli (I pray he stays)
DT- Ebert
DE- Turner?
OLB- Kaddu
MLB- Lokembo
OLB- Clay
DB- Harris
S- Pleasant
S- Boyett
DB- Marcus Davis

also still has Alonso on there, so hopefully that article on him being gone is wrong :)

also...

Defensive Backs:

Cliff Harris (5'11", 180) Jr.

Eddie Pleasant (5'11", 213) Sr.

John Boyett (5'10", 198) Jr.

Javes Lewis (6'1", 190) Sr.

Anthony Gildon (6'1", 185) Sr.

Will Wallace (5'10", 189) Sr. [I thought I heard them call his name at senior day. Maybe giving up football]

Scott Grady (5'11", 180) Jr.

Marcus Davis (5'11", 187) So.

Brian Jackson (5'10", 192) So.

Avery Patterson (5'10", 180) So.

Dior Mathis (5'9", 180) Fr.

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (5'10, 180) Fr.

Holy moly we are loaded at DB

Looks like they have Colt projected as a TE and not a LB.

yeah it this point its just speculation by them. No idea where French and Lyerla are gonna play. And TE might be difficult with Williams and Paulson there, and White coming off a redshirt. Unless they are gonna move him to DE.

Anthony Wallace (6'2", 200) Fr.
typo alert! Rivals, Scout, & ESPN all have him listed at 220

Looks like they have Colt projected as a TE and not a LB.
thats where CL claims they've told him he'll be initially tried, but he's also said that they've told him they might move him elsewhere as we go forward. I expect he'll cut his teeth mostly on special teams next year

got your projected starters Stomp? Curious to see what you are thinking.

I hope he does more in our bowl game at least thats for sure.

Whats your Starting Offense and Defense?
my differing best guesses are in bold

QB- Thomas
RB- LaMike
WR- Tuinei
WR- Huff
WR- Lowe/Hoffman/Cantu? (had trouble with this one) Rashaan Vaughn
TE- Paulson
RT- Asper
RG- Clanton
C -Armstrong
LG- York
LT- Weems

Defense: as I understand it, they're switching primarily to a 3-4
WSDE- Turner
NT- Heimuli (I pray he stays)
SSDE- Ebert
OLB- Kaddu
MLB- Clay
MLB- Alonzo (if he's still on the team... if not, Anthony Wallace or Dawson ;) )
OLB- Lokombo
DB- Harris
S- Pleasant
S- Boyett
DB- Marcus Davis

I expect they'll again regularly play 25ish guys on D so who makes the 2 deep rotation is a worthy question as well... of course the waters are even muddier on those guesses

again, I suggest this great interactive link of the Ducks roster to get a better idea of whats what

I'm just hoping Vaughn doesnt end up getting my hopes up like Tyrece Gaines did lol. I think Wallace will play and get reps in, I just dont know if I want him starting. Although he could kill it even moreso in Spring and I will gladly change my mind ;) am I getting my hopes to high as I envision a Vontaze Burfict without being a knucklehead?

I don't think those two have much in common coming out of HS. VB was listed 25 pounds heavier and athletically is on a different level from most anyone his size I've ever seen. He also freelances/takes a ton of chances that brings good and bad, while Wallace is supposed to be more of a sound, gap filling, tackling machine

dang I knew it was too high of hopes lol

not that Wallace's stuff is a bad thing :)

Register guard article today has Kiko as a projected starter as well. So hopefully that original article was wrong. :)

my favorite part of your link...

As much as the loss Monday hurt, the 2010 Oregon team set the bar high in all sorts of ways, from the way it won games and piled up points on the field to the way the Ducks handled themselves off the field, setting a team record for players with grade-point averages of 3.0 or above in the fall.

combining this tidbit with having every single one of last year's recruiting class qualified and enrolled makes me happy

one more thing to add and that I'm reading on other sites... Hawkins might be at WR next year, with Bennet's RS preserved this year. Could help there, I imagine he could help with the physicality of a DJ Davis. Thoughts?

Somebody help my concerns about our LB next year? And of course our defensive line.

Also, our O-Line looks like it will be fine.

You guys think that Blackmon/Sumler will redshirt? They would be a killer duo even as True Frosh, imo.

I could see both Red Shirting or either one. From what I've read Sumler is more polished as a route runner. But we already have a speedster coming off a redshirt to play in the slot, in Keanon Lowe, so not sure to be honest.

LB is hard to replace cause Matthews was so good for us, and Paysinger was solid. But we have some depth there, and depth with experience. Clay, Kaddu, Lokembo, all got significant playing time this year. And Alonso is coming back and he has some experience as well, and will probably start I think. Add in that Wallace will be coming in, and possibly another LB Prospect, and I dunno I just think that Lyerla's athleticism will lead him to LB I'm actually not too worried about LB personally. Although Matthews will have a special place in my heart.

Man just naming off those LB's.... we have come a Loooooong way from guys like John Bacon starting. Bacon was a good guy.. but the talent level has def increased.
