Congratulations to Miquel Cabrera for becoming the first 4 time batting champion since Tony Gwynn. And to Dee Gordon for becoming the first Marlin to win a batting title.

Further congratulations to.......

Clayton Kershaw for being the first pitcher to record 300 strikeouts in a season since 2002 (Randy Johnson & Curt Schilling)

Jake Arrietta for being the first Cub to lead the league in wins since Fergie Jenkins in 1971

Zack Greinke (1.66) & Jake Arrietta (1.77) for being the first since Doc Gooden (1.53) & John Tudor (1.93) (1985) to have ERAs under 2 in the same season.

And finally it seems like the long ball is back.....40+

2013 only 2 players reached the 40 HR mark, Chris Davis (53) & Miquel Cabrera (44)
2014 only 1 player reached the 40 HR mark, Nelson Cruz (40)
2015 9 players reached the 40 HR mark, Davis (47), Cruz (44), Harper (42), Arenado (42), Donaldson (41), Trout (41), Pujols (40), Bautista (40) & Gonzalez (40).

...Chris Davis could have easily finished with over 50 HRs thai year...I don't know how many times he was robbed by great catches that prevented the ball from going over the fence.

...as far as Jake Arrieta, here's an amazing stat....his 2nd half ERA was 0.75...that's the lowest in MLB history.

And to think, prior to this season he was only a 34-32 career pitcher.
