Call it the A-Rod tax.

One in three Americans believe the government should make it illegal to pay athletes and movie stars more than $1 million per year, according to a new poll.

A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey released Thursday found that 30 percent favor government pay limits for jocks and film stars.

There is more support for capping the pay of corporate executives - with 36 percent saying the federal government should make it illegal to pay any company exec more than $1 million a year.

If a team wants to pay a certain amount for a player, who are we to put a cap on it?

I can't say I'm surprised. The average American is a moron. Unfortunately, there isn't an IQ requirement to vote in a Democracy.

That is scary stupid.

Pro athletes should not be able to earn more than $22,000, because they were probably mostly jerks in high school.

CEO's shouldn't earn more than $50,000. They got their own bathroom--what more do they want?

I weep for this country. The day that most Americans start thinking this way is the day we turn into a third-rate socialist crap hole.

The good thing is that I don't think this has any real chane of going into effect.

Is there a difference?

30% of americans thinking something doesn't mean squat. 30% of americans think George Bush was a great president.

Really? You must mean the 15 percent that liked the first one plus the 14 percent that liked the last one. You have to add the 1 percent of the population that was in a coma during the last 8 years to W's total (by default of course)

I bet that there is a guy in a coma somewhere that would be pissed off that he got included in that category. Probably most of them.

What is the old quote? 70% of statistics are made up?

And even more than that voted for Obama!

Yes... that was kind of my point. 50+% of americans thinking something is meaningful.

Obama could still go down as a great president. There is a lot of validity to the money multiplier effect. But for that to happen, the government spending will hae to be on the rright stuff to allow that. I honestly have no idea what we're exactly spending on (although I know that the scholarships Obama promised got cut in size...while the spending has far exceeded his promises...), and with the history of the government showing they spend on useless, dumb, inefficient stuff, one would think Obama is probably doing the same, which will lead to him not being a great president.

And don't get me wrong, McCain would probably be just as bad, if not a worse president. I think the spending wouldn't be all to different. Oama is working to end the wars, while I think McCain would create a new war, leading to more spending there.

Hopefully next election it isn't just Obama vs. some dumbass Republican, and that's all. Hopefully someone like Ron Paul can actually gain some traction with his campaign after this mess.

I think Ron Paul blew it by not running this past election (as an independent in the general election I mean - I know he was in the Repub. primaries). I don't know if he'll ever have as good a chance again. The unsettled economic scene last fall was a great opportunity for a 3rd party candidate.
