1PM MORTON VS KURODA

4:35PM COLE VS NUNO

Got some injury updates to pass along, courtesy of Chad Jennings and Meredith Marakovits:

Carlos Beltran (elbow) received a second cortisone injection and will see Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion on Tuesday. The second opinion was apparently always scheduled, but the second injection indicates the first isn’t helping much. It’s looking more and more likely Beltran is heading for surgery.
Michael Pineda (shoulder) threw a 28-pitch bullpen session this afternoon as scheduled, and everything went fine. He will rest the next two days, then throw a 30-40 pitch bullpen session on Wednesday. Big Mike will start facing hitters after that, presumable in live batting practice or a simulated game.
Shawn Kelley (back) will play catch on Monday and Tuesday, throw a bullpen session on Wednesday, then make a minor league rehab appearance on Friday. He hopes to be activated off the 15-day DL and rejoin the team next Sunday.

Solarte in a rough patch....1 for last 14.

Tight game, hope the pen can continue to roll of the offense finds another couple runs.

Not worried about this game. Hammer has our backs covered. We can always bring Steve in Relief.....

With that win, Yanks now 11-10 at home, and the only AL East team with a winning home record. wow.....

man on third, no outs....no runs scored...that in 2014 yankee baseball.

thank god the kids know how to play fundamental baseball....

I never would of thunk it....

What was the most powerful division in MLB, has turned into the NFL black and blue divison, with NO Monster's of the Midway, neither.....

so Cole was their 2011 1st Round pick? and he had 19 starts in 2103?

As that YES announcer sings to the tune of Volare "Solarte, woah, woah, Solarte, woah, ho, ho, ho.

I'll tell if Hammer stayed for the 2nd game he could have his pick of seats, It looks like half the crowd went home.

Perfect example why I get so pissed off with our idiot manager, he either leaves a guy in until the game is out of reach & he gives up 5 or 6 runs or he takes the pitcher out to early. In this case Nuno threw only 80 pitchers after only 6 innings. He brings in Aceves & B O O M!! we're down 4-3. Great move genius.

I swear there can't be anymore then 5000 fans watching this 2nd game. Why would anyone give up watching an extra game.

Just a long day Rick. I remember around 1995 staying for two games against the White Sox in which the Yankees got swept. That was an aggravating day. The attendance was the exact opposite where there was seriously maybe a few hundred in the stadium for game one.

Damn if only Solarte got that one in the air it would've been a 5-4 Yankees lead.

A sweep would have been nice but the Yankees get the series. Cole is a tough pitcher, Nuno pitched a nice game today, another kid I've been pulling for. The pen and O came up short. God damn ex Yankees Stewart gets the final Buc RBI and Melancon closes it out.

I have NEVER ever left a game early for NO reasons.

Examples of patient ball game attendance:
IN the 80s, during a Dogders-Padres game, the score was tied O-O going into the 1am hour. The onshore L.A, fog had set in, as the season ticket holders and other fans left (as usual in L.A. in the 6th inning as is customary for L.A, fair weather fans. LA,. fans leave early to avoid the very freeway pile up, they create themselves by leaving games early, the action just begins, coming alive when the fans vacate the Park.) to our joy, Joe Carter hit a solo shot in the top of the 13th, the eventual game winner. During the 6th inning, we moved from out 2nd mezz seats, right down behind home plate, (where we could hear all the on field talk). Best seats in the house. So often this is the norm, wait in Chavez for the part time fans to leave, then take their best seats, no problem). I've done this with every MLB and Bums game I've attended. Same with the Angel games.

Flash forward a month later, when Mantle was at the park, to present Reggie with a trophy for breaking Micks' HR record, that highlight card of the trophy presentation is in the 86 Donurss Highlights Update set, shown below***, a pre-game ceremony. It more than paid, to stay in the park til the lights were turned out before we left. Luck would have it, we walked alongside the Mick, an hour after the game, as we both entered the main lobby at the same time; as the Mick was leaving alone. walking alongside my Hero, and the legend, was priceless, and we gave him his peace, by only saying hello, your my hero Mick. With all due respect, we never bothered him for small chat or an autograph, I had already met Mick at two memorabilia show, obtaining his autograph on a Louisville Authentic Mantle bat

My favorite games, are those called "Family Nights', when the Fans are allowed to go on the field and obtain most players autographs and pictures....

As much Minor League games, it is the standard, to be able to obtain these Prospect autographs with ease, by either ariving early or staying when the lights are turned out.

So the morale of this story is always be the 1st in the park, and last to leave, you never know what memories or gems you will go home with, you otherwise would never see....! Just my 2 cents.

Bums fans are the worst in Baseball less the old Expos Fans, or early Seattle Fans, when a 5,000 attendance audience was the norm. Nothing like going to a game, in both cities, when your guaranteed the best seats in the house. When games are barely attended by fans, I've found autgraphs of otherwise impossilbe to attain players, are as easy to get, as in Spring Training games.

The quantiy of Bums and visiting team bats are as easy for the asking during these empy seat games. Othewise one has thousands of fans all aksing for the same things, to no avail, ie. bats, memorabilia, autographs, and the chance to talk with the pro's of the game. During Minor Lg. Local games, I was enabled to have lengthy conversations with Coaches and Mangers, like Greg Nettles, (the Mgr. of the Bakersfield Blaze in 95, between pre-game workouts. Charlie Hough was a nice guy to chat with, with no sense of urgeny to get back to the game. Jim Slaton and Jack Clark have always been arrogant pompuous asses, who won't give a fan the time of the day, when asked. Frauds....

So far hammer is a good luck charm!

It's actually my wife who is the good luck charm... she has never been to a game that they've lost... every one was won... too bad we didn't stay for the 2nd game...

well, for us... we had 2 kids (4 & 6) and a wife almost 9 months pregnant... sitting in the bleachers... so we left after 1... I would've stayed if I could, but the kids were spent as was Heather

I thought you threw an inning in relief.....you must be spent.... hope ya'll had a blast.

lol... we did. It was a great time

GREAT.....:clap::clap::clap:

I bet the Family had a great time, getting out for a nice road trip, to the only place on Earth better, funner than OZ....!!! Did Heather do ok with the drive? What's that take you, about 3 hours each way? More?

I bet it seemed a bit strange to not hear Sand-Man blaring out of the speakers too....!

Yes, great time... and the road trip was fun... traffic getting into NY actually wasn't that bad...

Heather did well... Stayed for the first game, stopped for dinner & gas on the way home, got home & put the kids to bed, and when we sat down it was 9pm... So between the drive home, dinner and gas it was almost 5 hours... getting there was probably about 2 hours though...

Outstanding Steve....!!!

I'm thrilled, to hear of the "Great Family Outing", much needed wouldn't you say, perfect timing....!

I've got all those pics saved now to my Screensaver...Kim's getting as much a kick out of them as I do. She also, said: "Remember when, (she saw Liam and Connor asleep in the back seat), the boys fell asleep with their faces in their ice cream cones"! I just put those pics up on the screensaver, with yours....Classic.

Your boys will never forget these trips to the Yankee Stadium. I know I can never forget my trips as a kid, and adult with my boys. Your boys will always recall those trips with fond adoration, knowing their Daddy, raised them proper, with a great background, founded in Yankee Lore and its rich history...! Kudos, good job...!

Heather looks good, happy, I'm glad to see ya'll had a great time. Good seats too, a better view than I imagined. The pics of Jeter are very excellentl. Classic Moments, brings back Nostalgic memories from a long time back.

Thanks again. I needed some new Screesaver pics, to go with Ron's Giant Okra Stalk. I bet Ron climbs that thing daily for a golden egg.
