so glad that the Thunder got Perkins takes them out of the Oden race. I see maybe Memphis and the Blazers. But I think that memphis may go with Gasol and ZBO...just build on that.

Oden is really in the driver's seat. I still think we lock him in for 4 years.

NY would really love to have that big defensive man in the middle.

All I have to say is money talks and bullshit walks.

the thread title saddens me. Unless it's talking about neighborhoods he's looking at buying a home in (LO, Beaverton, SoWa, the 'Couv, HCP's basement--as long as Greg still lets us still play D&D there on Friday and Saturday nights--Clackamas, Troutdale, Pearl)

They forgot to include Dance Dance Revolution With the Stars as an option.

Well, one of the 8 places IS Portland.

You may have hit upon why Oden's knees never recover. He's putting too much force into them while HCP's gone.

I don't think Oden will be gone, but if he does, I wish him the best. The guy has really gone through the ringer here.

So you're blaming management or the trainers, just like Mixum would have done?

i just want him back. too much emotionally invested in that dream.
:sigh:

The figure on the qualifying offer is staggering. No knocks on the greg-ster, but to go much higher than that on him a GM would have to be drunk. If the philosophy is to pay a player based on what he has done, then those were some valuable 82 games he played. I'm all in favor of making the offer, but a single dollar more is equivalent to going to vegas and putting it all on black.

No offense to the OP, but when I see the link "Bleacher Report", I tend to dismiss it out of hand.

Oden is our best chance at acquiring a franchise level star player. It's a risky chance, but there is virtually no way we are getting a superstar with draft picks in the mid to late first round and no superstar free agent is going to chose Portland. So even if you believe Oden has a 75% chance of never beating these injuries we sadly just don't have a better option.

Gerald Wallace and LaMarcus are above average starters but neither is going to lead a team to a championship. Now if your goal for the Blazers is to get them out of the first round, perhaps you could try to go in a different direction. For me, I want the Blazers to one day have a shot at winning a title, and to do that the Blazers need to do whatever they can to obtain a superstar player. Go watch the OSU vs Florida title game again, Oden dominated two older players who have both become solid NBA All-stars. Oden's chance of obtaining that superstar level in the NBA are greatly dimensioned from when he was drafted but its still much higher then trying to strike gold with the 21st pick in the draft. I believe it’s an easy decision to keep Oden opposed to just letting $8mil in salary for next season come off the books. Joel Pryzbilla was paid ~$8mil this year and Canby is over $10mil. $8mil for a one year deal is not expensive at all in the NBA.

Wes Matthews learned to lead a team? What the? That article just seemed kinda weird lol. Although I dont know how another market would give him potential stardom like going through all he has, and coming out on top with the team that stuck with him.. but I'm no media guru.

Well Said. Other than that, this thread sucks.

I doubt we want him signed on such a long contract. Especially considering the amount of shit KP is getting now for signing Roy for 5 yrs, Cho will be more prudent and conservative.

Speaking of Cho, he better do something to improve the roster because this roster obviously isn't good enough to win it all. Not doing so would be a failure.

I don't know...since he turned Bayless, Dante and a now-out-for-the-season Przybilla into a starting SF/PF who happens to be a recent All-Star, I'm thinking Mr. Cho has earned a bit of leeway before I label him a failure.

What have you done for me lately?

The roster needs to be improved, right? The team as is can't even contend for a title, let alone actually win one. There are still moves to be made and not making them would be a failure imo.

Cho better get creative or this team will be stuck as a 5-8 seed. Making no improvements is not an option.
