...beat me to it...really nice guy...funny as hell...and one of my fav announcers.

...RIP

He was a favorite for sure. Maybe it was just me but one of those guys you thought already died.

RIP Joe- he simply exuded a nice easy going persona, also had a calming voice and manner of speaking. I enjoyed his work.
I believe he was a childhood/lifelong friend of Yogi.

Our good friend Rick will be at 20K by July.

Oh you guys found me out, my other SN was BSS maybe you remember me. :bgrin:

Joe and Yogi are having a few laughs!

R.I.P.

Merged the two threads together for easier conversation.

Garagiola was top of the line, always enjoyed games a bit more when he was in the booth.

enjoyed Joe's voice calling games, he's been missed for awhile. Loved the sport enough to call games until he was 87-88...

after Torre's epic calling of Halo Games in the latter 80s, then leaving Anaheim, Joe Garagiola made Halo games bearable to listen too. When He left for AZ, we wound up with fkng Mota and Hudler, most fkd up duo in the history of MLB???? Or does that belong to Joe Morgan and Harold Reynolds????

I grew up listening to him.

I've missed those "Game of the Week" Broadcasts from way back into the 60s. Gowdy, Kubek, Garagiola....then later Costas, Michaels...

When Torre left Anaheim, after a few years of calling Halo games, often doing "play by play" along with "Color Commentary", Torre has been my favorite Halos game caller, over decades, period....

Once Torre left to return to the game itself & St. Louis, Joe Garagiola, filled the big gap void Torre left behind, and gave creedence to broadcasting here in Halo land....

Joe G., called games until He was 87. Vin Scully has called games longer, but is still one year younger than Garagiola, when Joe quit calling D'Back games; ntm- he was a Team mate of Musial, Slaughter, Irvin, Mays, Banks, Kiner, Schoendienst, just to name a few...RIP...!

A HOF Broadcaster if you ask me...
