A little Blazer bit from Chris Broussard

Thanks for posting that.
Even going to an elite team does not appeal much to Camby, who is in his 15th season. His ultimate desire is to remain in Portland. After signing a two-year, $21 million extension with the Blazers in the spring, Camby moved his family to Portland and has his two young daughters enrolled in school there.
Remember when we traded for him and all the talk was that he was going to bolt out of Portland the first chance he got? LOL

I remember him wanting to retire on the Clippers, and in Denver too. Some people are just wired to want to settle.

If a contender is interested in trading for him, I doubt they'll be dissuaded by his inclination to stay put. Every time he's been moved he's initially hated it, but quickly settles in.

I love Camby. At first I questioned his desire when he was upset the Clippers traded him to the Blazers. I thought maybe he was burnt out and wanted to stay with a familiar location and coast home in his career.

I was half right about Camby. He likes a familiar setting and doesn't like to pick up and move in chase of a ring. But by no means is he coasting home. Camby wants to find a team and location he calls home, get invovled with the community he is representing, and do everything he can on and off the court to help the team win.

I love Camby's mentality and hope they don't trade him.

The dream of the 90's is alive in Camby... Camby...

I hope they don't trade him either, but if they do he deserves a shot on a contender (or to go home to Houston). Orlando is an intriguing trade partner with Bass and maybe Nelson ... hard to say who else I would want off of that team.

I also read over on hoopshype that Washington is shopping Javale McGee . They are also shopping Blatche. I don't think much of Blatche, he seems to have motor problems. But Javale McGee, has a lot of upside.

I'd absolutely go after McGee I I were Cho. He's a great shot blocker and runs the floor well for a big man.

I agree. He is about 22, has shown steady improvement. I believe he has the ability to be a better version of Tyson Chandler. I didn't think much of him a few years ago, but he has changed my mind, as his growth since he played with team USA in practice has been very marked.

how much would you be willing to pay? decent young C's with upside are not a cheap commodity

It's impossible to answer that question without knowing what Washington is asking for. But I would certainly part with Batum and New Orleans' pick (or our own) for him. Or maybe Rudy, Przy and Miller for Hinrich and McGee would be fair?

I think you have to offer Batum and they might bite, Przy/Miller/Batum for Hinrich/Javale/Josh Howard. That would still give us Camby to trade for a piece if we want.

I wonder if Washington has any bad contracts they want to get rid of . . . we still have 3.5 mil exception to help other teams shed salary.

They have a terrible one in Rashard Lewis, but there's no way we deal for that. Maybe dumping Blatche or Kirk would get them to deal McGee for Andre/Joel to clear cap?

I think they might (not sure) prefer to perhaps trade Blatche (is he more of a "bad" boy?) I think he could be a nice tandem with LMA as they could split the C and Pf duties, he is 6'11 and around 250-260. Thoughts?

He's not a bad gamble, and would give the Blazers more ways to score in the post. MgGee & Blatche for Joel works.

LOL, that's crazy to think they'd give us both for just Joel? Heck, they hang up if you proposed Joel for just one of them, lets be somewhat realistic.

Bear in mind that both were suspended for getting into an altercation outside of a club recently ... it's possible that they are available because their maturity is less than desirable and after all the nonsense they went through with Arenas they could be desperate to avoid the public image hit.

Denver loks to try to convince Carmelo to stay. One article awhile back said he wanted someone good to play along side. I wonder if Denver will entertain getting someone via trade to help convince him to stay.

Not to mention that we would corner the market on former Nevada Wolf Pack players.

Possibly. But McGee doesn't seem like that type of kid. My guess is that McGee just needs to be under the right type of leadership. As for Blatche, the dude has always been a headcase. A headcase that can score, but a total headcase never the less. If getting Mcgee I would want to get him away from that type of influence.

I think if you get him into the right situation, it won't be as much of an issue. Who knows if Portland is the right place though?

Blatche is hurting a team that trying to rebuild its image in the post-Arenas era. He's locked up for 5 years so I can see their motivation to make a clean cut from him for salary relief and draft picks.

A town with more strip clubs than convenience stores would be perfect for a guy tempted by the club scene.

The fascination with young players on bad teams continues...

Your kibosh on the Dante Cunningham thread tells me you think we should.

Just pointing out the dichotomy of fans saying young, somewhat inconsistent players on mediocre teams (like McGee) shouldn't be considered while thinking a player like Batum (who fits that description to a T) is considered untouchable by many.

The flaw here is considering the forum talk as aggregate of the multiple individual opinions. Were the individuals saying "who cares about McGee?!" the same individuals who said "I would never trade Batum!" ? The onus is on you to know. If it is so, then you have a statement to make. If not, I would invite you to sit down and shut up. :)
