A new era in Baltimore. The Head Coaching career of Pat Lewis.

Today the head coaching career of Pat Lewis begins. The year 2006 started right after the Super Bowl for a very young coach, 33 years old. I had a lot of interviews and received some good news from my agent today. My basic philosophies are:-Defensive minded coach-Balanced offense-A 4-3 style defense.

Looks like 5 teams are interested in picking me up as their head coach. Looks like all the hard work and interviewing finally paid off. Let's review the teams who are interested and what they are offering. Should be interesting. * Baltimore Ravens: 5 Years, 10.0 Million (2.0 per year) * Houston Texans: 2 Years, 7.2 Million (3.60 per year) * Green Bay Packers: 5 Years, 13.7 Million (2.74 per year) * Buffalo Bills: 2 Years, 5 Million (2.5 per year) * Detroit Lions: 4 Years, 13.2 Million (3.3 per year)

Pat Lewis immediately threw out the Houston Texans contract offer, even though it offered the most money, he had no interest in working with them. He also threw out the Lions contract offer since he wanted to work with a good defense, which Lions did not have.It came down to three teams. The Packers, The Ravens, and The Bills. Pat Lewis liked the idea of having an early pick and a decent team with the Packers, but decided not to sign with them. Now it was between the Bills and the Ravens. The Bills had a good defense that needed better coaching to reach their full potential and the Ravens already had a top 5 defense. Pat Lewis chose to be head coach of the Ravens. The decision was easy and Pat loved the idea of working with great players like Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Jonathan Odgen. After the announcement of the hiring, Pat met with owner Anquan Henderson who went over some of the tasks at hand and how to go about them. He also got a chance to view his own coaching attributes.

Pat Lewis moved on to the weekly staff meeting where he met his entire coaching staff. Pat decided to let QB Coach Rich Neuheisel(58), RB Coach Tony Nathan(29), and DB Coach Mark Carrier(57) go. WR Coach Mike Johnson and LB Coach Jeff Fitzgerald contracts were up, but Pat Lewis decided to resign them. Now Pat Lewis' next responsibility was to fill the QB,RB, and DB coach positions. He set up several interviews.

The first guy that was brought in was Ian Kay. He previously was a head coach. Ian excelled at coaching running backs. Ian seemed like a great fit and we decided to sign him.

Our next step was looking for a QB Coach. We decided to interview Quincy Price. In the interview, Quincy talked wanting a vertical passing game, which was not what we wanted. Quincy wasn't what we were looking for, so Price was turned down without an offer.Next, we interviewed Cody Smith to be our QB Coach. He also wanted a vertical passing game, so we immediately didn't give him an offer.After numerous interviews, Pat Lewis decided to sign Mark Olive. His interview was good, and he seemed like the guy we were looking for.

Next came a management meeting with the owner to go over a few things. He's liking the staff Pat Lewis assembled. Our next step is to resign players.

I love NFL Head Coach for the most part. My problem is all the shit you have to do. I hate going through every part, that's why I simulate quite a bit, but not what I don't need to.

So the weekly staff meeting came next and Pat Lewis went around the table asking for opinions. * RB coach wanted Jamal Lewis to return. Pat Lewis agreed. * DL coach wanted Kelly Gregg back. Pat Lewis agreed. * LB coach wanted Tommy Polley back. Pat Lewis declined and the LB coach wasn't pleased.A meeting with the scouting directer followed. I looked into a few players in the draft. Since most of the top players were scouted, I was given a choice to scout 8 players and I decided to scout Nick Mangold, Joseph addai, Kelly Clemens, Haloti Ngata, Sinorice Moss, Rocky McIntosh, D'Qwell Jackson, and Dawan Landry.

An opportunity to sign players came up. Pat Lewis, right away, signed Jamal Lewis to a 5 year, 9.23 million dollar deal. Next Pat decided to resign Chester Taylor to a 5 year, 4.34 million dollar deal. Last but not least, Pat Lewis decided to resign Randy Hymes. A young receiver with alot of potential. He was signed with a 3 year, 2.01 million dollar deal. Pat Lewis will have the opportunity to resign more players soon.<span style="font-size:8pt;line-height:100%"><span style="font-family:Arial">Jamal Lewis will be back with the Ravens for the 2007 season!</span></span>

Pat Lewis also resigned Chris McAlister to a 4 year, 28.94 million dollar deal, Kelly Gregg to a 2 year, 3.38 million dollar deal, and Bart Scott to a 2 year, 1.34 million dollar deal. Pat tried getting a deal done with Peter Boulware's agent but the asking price was too high, so Pat Lewis cut off talks with Peter Boulware and his agent. <span style="font-family:Arial"><span style="font-size:8pt;line-height:100%">Chris McAlister will be shutting down receivers in 2007!</span></span>

The list of resigned players increased as the Baltimore Ravens resigned Will Demps, Deion Sanders, BJ Sams, Dale Carter, BJ Ward, Tony Pashos, Jarrett Johnson and Dave Zastudil.Pat Lewis had another meeting with the owner. This time is was to state that the resigning period was over. Basically stating everything Pat Lewis already knew.After having a meeting with the owner, the coaching staff had our weekly meeting. This time we were here to talk about great sleepers in the draft.

The meeting didn't go to well. Seeing as the players coaches mention didn't really interest Pat Lewis, which ended up leaving most position coaches dissapointed.Since the combine is a week away, it's time to scout more players. Pat Lewis gave the scouting director a list of 25 players he wants scouted.Players Scouted:QB - M. Leinart, V. Young, R. McNeal, B. CroyleWR - D. WilliamsC - N. MangoldRE - M. WilliamsDT - H. Once the meeting was over, Pat Lewis received the scouting reports. Most of the scouting reports were positive and it is hard to tell what direction Pat Lewis will be going in this draft.<span style="font-family:Arial"><span style="font-size:8pt;line-height:100%">3 of 25 scouting reports</span></span>.

It was finally time for the FA period to begin. Pat Lewis looked through the FA market, and he wasn't really impressed. He saw one name he was interested in, and that was Jon Kitna. Pat Lewis contacted Jon Kitna's agent with a contract offer, they accepted. Now the QB position isn't the biggest worry in the draft.<span style="font-family:Arial"><span style="font-size:8pt;line-height:100%">Jon Kitna will be the starting QB in 2007.</span> </span>

I went to Circuit City to buy it for PS2 but the salesperson told me to wait to buy it cause he thought that it was too expensive for a simulation game on PS2.So, I bought Tomb Raider: Legend and Kingdom Hearts II. Hopefully those games will last me about 2 months along with Hitman: BM.

Pat Lewis received a call from the owner. He was told to design a few plays for offense and defense. Pat Lewis went to work quick. He designed his first play, which had all LBs blitzing in the middle, SS takes over the LBs position and playz zone, while the FS watches deep and the CBs play man coverage.

Next, Pat Lewis designed a offense play. He was done for the day, but he will continue to design more plays when he gets the time to.

After a few weeks of not doing anything at all, Pat Lewis had another meeting with the owner. This time the owner was letting Pat know that the real FA has begun. The owner Anquan Henderson, wasn't very pleased that I didn't resign Peter Boulware. He was one of the five players the owner really wanted back.It seems like alot of teams are interested in Dan Cody. The Seahawks and 49ers already have sent me trade offers, but I politely declined.<span style="font-family:Arial"><span style="font-size:8pt;line-height:100%">The Ravens have big plans for Cody in 07</span></span>.

Once again, it was time for Pat Lewis to scout some more since the draft is a day away. Pat is most likely going the BPA route, but he's not positive. We will see tommorrow when the draft begins.

The Ravens chose to draft Vince Young. Before the draft, Pat spoke to the owner and the owner requested a franchise QB if we were in position to get one. Is there some kind of bug with the game that they need to patch?</div>Nah, it starts low but then it builds up through practice and games etc. Like for example Peyton Mannings rating is 86-99. Meaning 86 is the lowest he can get and 99 is the highest. It's never at its lowest though once you do practice and all that. I don't fully understand the ratings yet, but it's not that bad.

Our new QB coach is one of the best and he says he can make a star out of almost anyone. The owner also wanted a franchise QB and he was the best available QB when it was the Ravens turn to pick. Vince Young will most likely be the starting QB for 2007 depending on how he does in practice and preseason.<div align="center"><span style="font-family:Arial"><span style="font-size:8pt;line-height:100%">2nd round pick by the Baltimore Ravens</span></span>

He will join a great LB core and will most likely start. Ernie Sims is known to lay out big hits and is also a versatilty player that can possibly play S if needed. In the 4th round, Maurice Drew was the best RB available so choosing him was a no brainer. Unfortunately, Drew has a slim chance to start since he's behind Jamal Lewis and Chester Taylor in the line up.After the draft, Pat Lewis had a meeting with the owner. The owner was kind of upset that Pat didn't draft a DT. Their was three positions the owner particulary wanted to draft and they were QB,RB, and DT. Pat Lewis drafted a QB and RB but failed to draft a DT.Next update will be tommorrow.Off topic: I simmed everything after the 2nd round since it was taking too long.
