So I'm starting a business, and part of the process involves a lot of paperwork from the city of Portland (not just the normal stuff), and other regulatory agencies. If you call these institutions, you will be put on hold, never speak to a person, and eventually a machine will tell you that you will receive a call within 48 hours (the call never comes).
So yesterday I'm looking at one of their websites in frustration, and I see something that I hadn't noticed before. There was a call line for people that didn't speak English. So I called it.
Instantly a person picked up, and my question was answered.
Every single time I call a company from now on, I'm going to call their non English speaking line.
God I fucking love white privilege.
