OT A Rather Strange Occurrence

My wife texts me. She asks me if I am expecting a package. I'm not, so I text back no.

She texts me...

Someone showed up at my apartment minutes before and buzzed my apartment. I was at work so I wasn't there, but my wife was and she answered. A man claimed he was delivering a package for me. She let him in. No person or package ever came to my door.

My wife checked downstairs. Nothing. No one.

The creepiest part is the guy specifically used my name. My name does not appear on the call box. Only my first initial and my last name.

Also, again I'm not expecting a package. The only packages I have been expecting recently, we already received yesterday and before (it's my son's birthday today and we got everything for it we were waiting for).

So very bizarre and a bit scary.

I don't answer the door for anyone i'm not expecting. If your apartment complex allows doorbell cameras you might consider getting one. You can communicate with people through that.

If you are leaving me a package, leave it by my door and leave, or with the person at the front of the complex.

No doorbell cameras. It's a door outside that lets you in the building, then there are the apartment doors inside.

No person downstairs that watches the door.

Generally, that's how I am too. Leave it at my door and I will get it. Sometimes, they leave them downstairs.

But, again I wasn't expecting any package. My wife only let them in because they said they had a package for me and explicitly gave my name, otherwise she wouldn't have let them in. I'm very careful about who I let in.

If I don't know you or if you don't live in my building I don't live in my building, I don't let people in.

Can you not put a camera outside your apartment door? I see that all the time at apartments thats doors are directly accessible outside.

Probably. I just see who's outside in the hallway via my peephole.

Talk to your neighbors and ask if they had same experience. Notify building management.
