A lot of Blazers fans have said for years that McMillan tried to turn Batum into James Jones and that is the main reason why he wants out. His development was stunted with McMillan-ball.

He wants to be a player of movement and the solution is easy; The French National team has used Nic in this role since he's been with the team:

SG: Batum

He'll get the touches/role that he desires here -- put up or shut up, Nic!

I'm fine with Batum at shooting guard...but then who plays small forward? As it stands, I think Matthews at shooting guard is better than whomever replaces Batum at small forward (Babbitt?).

Nic had an awful PER at SG last year....just sayin

It sure would be nice to have a head coach in place right now. Reassurance from a coach as to how he sees a player best fitting into his structure is important at this stage - even if we have the right to retain Nic or not.

...Brandon Rush :dunno:

He's played SG many times under McMillan but I don't think we should hold that against him. There is no flow in that system, Nic was handcuffed. In the Olympic qualifying games, Batum played both SG and PG. In this role, he looks a lot more aggressive.

I like the idea of Batum at SG and Matthews at SF. That changes everything. Problem solved.

Nic had plenty of drives to the basket as a Blazer. Soemtimes he looked great and finsihed, other times he drove and lost the handle, and still other times he passed off when he should have shot it. He is very unselfish, to a fault. But certainly IMO not to the coaches fault.

However lets face it the Blazer players the past 5-6 years have never been the best passers. So when they do cut to the basket the ball seldom gets there in time. Other than Miller and Rudy no one has been what I consider above average. Brandon was a good passer off his drives, but not even he was a "quick" passer. I guess you can blame some of that on the coaches, but it is another area that they have lacked. Of course most teams do lack in that area.

Maybe they need more white players
