Top-seeded defending champion Ana Ivanovic of Serbia advanced to the quarterfinals in the Monterrey Open on Wednesday night, beating Pauline Parmentier of France 6-3, 6-2.

Ivanovic will face France's Kristina Mladenovic, a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Russia's Vera Zvonareva in the hard-court event at Sierra Madre Tennis Club.

Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland rallied to win the Monterrey Open early Monday for her second straight WTA Tour title in Mexico.

The fourth-seeded Bacsinszky beat third-seeded Caroline Garcia of France 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 after waiting out a four-hour rain delay in the second set in the hard-court event at Club Sonoma.
