OT About to buy a new Volvo XC90

They don't have what I want in inventory. Nobody does. They're going to have to order a special build from the factory which is going to take 5 to 6 months.
If a vehicle is going to cost that much, may as well order it and get exactly what you want. Yep, Volvo makes a great vehicle.

1. I don't want their tired old colors so I'm getting a shade of blue;
2. Gotta have AWD 'cause dialysis is not an option even on days when it snows;
3. Gotta be a plug in hybrid because my wife hates paying for gas;
4. Need all the safety features such as heads up display, lane departure;
5. Park assist because my wife needs all the help she can get.

An XC90 with these features doesn't grow on trees so I'm going to have to special order it.

I can't go. Gotta be with a machine the size of a cheap full size refrigerator to clean my blood thrice weekly. The VA will pay for other facilities but they cannot be a fellow VA facility and I must pay and wait for them to pay me back,which, based on my experience with them, will take about a year to get my money back and at $1,000 per treatment adds up to quite a bit of change.
I don't even know if they still do that and if they do the European pick up and they certainly don't advertise it.

Its Sweden. Universal healthcare!

I wish I could go to Europe but I don't feel like taking a chance with my life.
Another consideration is the person sticking the needles in you. The needles are large gauge and can hurt like hell even sometimes for the entire 4 hour procedure. I like having people who do a competent job. Also, I'm a bleeder so it takes a long time before after they pull the needles before they can wrap me up. Not all places do that. A lot of places have a high turnover and want you out of there ASAP. I've sprung serious leaks before where I was gushing blood all over the place. One time they had to cover me up with blankets because my clothes where substantially red from blood and they didn't want the general population to see that. Other times it's made me sick enough to the stomach that I've puked, maybe a dozen times or so.
No, I don't take getting dialysis somewhere else lightly especially a foreign country.

What should I pay for it?

Need to trade in my wife's 2005 Toyota Camry in very good condition, close to excellent. Kelley blue book on it in very good condition is $3,100. Could I get more?

Aren't you REALLY old to be having a mid-life crisis?

@Lanny
When you get mature, you don't need much. Much less a Volvo. Hell, I am happy now with an old Toyota truck, half the payload of my prior Chevy but then half again the better mileage.
A perfect tender for the MarAzul. Life is good.

You need to make it a win-win. You want the Volvo, at a low price. What does the salesperson want?

Does he want his car or house to not burn in a suspicious fire? Does he want to feel his kids are safe? Does he want to not unknowingly ingest poison?

The key to negotiation is understanding the needs of the guy on the other side, and making the benefit of the deal clear to him. Good luck.

I don't know if I could pull that off, but he does have horse that he loves and I've got a bone saw. All I gotta do is disable his house alarm and be very very sneaky which is one thing I'm very good at.

If you’re gonna drop that kind of coin on a car I’m guessing maintenance and repairs aren’t going to bankrupt you. Might as well get whatever you and the wife have your hearts set on. Volvo’s aren’t the ol’ reliables they used to be, that’s for sure. Their reliability has gone downhill some with the addition of all the electronics over the years, but they aren’t complete lemons by any means. Still have a good safety rating also.
For 80k my only choice would be a Toyota LandCruiser. Those things are luxury tanks. Your great grandkids would still be driving it around in 30 years, long after any Volvo’s of this era get crushed into cubes.

1. Don't have any children.
2. The Chinese have investing over $11 Billion in Volvo. They are dedicated to engineering.
3. All Volvos except the XC90 are built in Sweden except for the bumpers which are built in Norway.
