We need a thread about acid

Here is your thread.

I have done a fair amount, seen many wonderful things. Acid, shrooms mainly, but a few other hallucinogens also. But, eventually I had a bad trip, and once that happened, I was over it. It's been 15 years or so since I've dosed. Glad I had my experiences, but never more.

YAY!!! STORIES!!!

I've done shrooms once, but that's it. I'll try acid someday though

Sorry, my stories in this area aren't really meant for a forum. A beer, friends, and the distant coming of closing time are when these stories are told. Besides, you're too young and innocent.

I will say, if you trip, do it with close friends. Everything else will work itself out.

I hear if you do enough, you'll see GOD.

I've never really understood why someone would want to consume these types of things. So I guess my question is, what made you want to try acid?

Being a kid, wanting to experiment, being influenced by the music, movies, and art that glorified that stuff...

...used to love all that shit in high school... also got drug tested for the essentials back then, but you couldn't test for psychedelics, so...

I remember being pretty open and vocal about it on the forum back in the day, but a few bad experiences, a change of environment, and well, just growing up, I haven't had any desire to use any psychedelic, not even pot, in several years. Grew out of it I guess...

BTW - I'd like to, in general, advise against it if you've never done it though. I don't know how it was back when a lot of ya'll were kids, but a lot of the stuff going around these days isn't pure LSD but rather knockoffs like 2ci that can really mess with you. I also don't know how strong it was back in the day, but if you think you'll be seeing pink elephants all over the place and shit like in the movies, you're mistaken. You'll get visuals, but it's also a largely mental drug, and if you've got any mental baggage you've been carrying around, it can easily all come flooding into your brain out of nowhere, and it's hard to stop a negative train of thought once it starts.

Big deal. I saw my mother and felt sad that at that age (20), I was arguing with her too much. 5% of the trip is sad, 5% happy, and 90% intellectually mood-neutral. In the 90%, you have many creative insights into your interests.

The 10-hour trip is exciting, so if you're fat and 40, it might give you a heart attack. I'm having to guess, since all LSD research is illegal in our country of freedom.

It's the best thing. Energy, feeling like you are blasting off and yes you do see God if you do enough.

The strongest trip I've ever done was 20 hits. The scariest and most rewarding trip ever.

Well obviously, forget what I speculated about fat and 40.

I thought that when I was a young lad too. then you grow up and have responsibilities :)

I know, that's why I think you should have tried it, 5 years ago maybe, before your career, while you still had the opportunities to experience certain parts of life, like drugs.

Obviously I'm not judging you for not doing them, it's just my opinion on the matter

It's also why I am in no hurry to find a career, or "grow up" as some people call it.

I only have one life and I want to enjoy it as much as I can, having the freedom to try things like acid and not be too worried about my life going to shit because of it for as long as I can before I move on to the next part of my life.

I consider myself very fortunate to live here with all of the privileges I have, and I want to take advantage of the opportunities.

No worries, whatever is good for you. I've always been interested in accomplishing my goals and building an empire so I can retire sooner rather than later and travel the world.

I guess my version of "getting high" in trying to be the best at my career and shooting for goals/promotions. Nothing feels better than that to me.

There was so much 1st-hand tripping information in the late 60s mass media. They made LSD illegal in I think 1968. The early 70s were radical but the police state had slowly wrapped around us by Reagan's first year. Now, all you get is whispers like this thread.

I went on a long-winded rant about psychedelics last night, describing personal experiences (not in too much detail), and how I am supportive of them to an extent but have seen the bad sides of them as well. I deleted that, and now I wish I hadn't have, so I'd have some basis to form a similar point now. I'll just leave it at the point where I'll say that I'm very knowledgeable of the modern day psychedelics, have experiment with most of them, and have had some beautiful experiences, but the horrific experiences that kept me from ever touching them again were life-defining. Everyone's different, and stimuli and environment matter a lot, so take that as you will...

Is erowid no longer the go-to? That was my bible in high school/early college life.

In terms of the "visual component," check this video out. I'm really fucking surprised that not only is it still up, but it now has more than 2+ million views. I watched this back when the dude first posted it, after having tripped that week, back when I really enjoyed doing it, and I don't think I've seen a more accurate portrayal of mirror time on acid than this... the mirror can become a really interesting part of a casual trip -

Erowid is always the bible.

I had an interesting time looking at a mirror while I was on shrooms. It looked like I had a neanderthal head for something.

Never heard of erowid, I'm there now.

try your acid with some meth if you really want to freak out

The subconscious mind moves data in quantum packages, not in a smooth continuous flow. So your perceptions, including visual, are disjointed, even when you're not stoned.

On acid, your identity/self moves down from the conscious level, and you realize how the disjointed other half lives. You take up residence for 10 hours on the other side of the railroad tracks in your mind, the rough unconscious side of town.

(You see there how you use symbolism a lot more during the trip.)
