"Paul Walker -- best known for his role in "The Fast and the Furious" movies -- died Saturday afternoon after a single-car accident and explosion in Southern California ... TMZ has learned.

The accident happened in Santa Clarita -- north of Los Angeles -- and according to multiple sources connected to Paul ... the actor was in a Porsche when the driver somehow lost control and slammed into a post or a tree ... and then the car burst into flames.

Several of our sources -- some who are still at the scene of the accident -- tell us Paul and another person in the car were killed. Law enforcement is still on the scene, and we're told the L.A. County Coroner's Office is on the way."

Twitter is blowing up saying it was a hoax, hence the question mark.

Tmz and NYDN are both reporting it however.

There was a hoax yesterday that he died. It would be quite ironic if he died for real a day later.

The hoax with him has been circulating for years.

hoop fam

I just watched a movie called Pawn Shop Chronicles earlier in the week that had Paul Walker in it.

Kind of a messed up movie in a Tarantino way.

I appears that's exactly what happened. Has anyone seen Rod Serling lately?

Wow, What a time to fake your own death if you wanted to.

This one here hit me almost as hard as the Corey Haim death a few years back. Here today, gone tomorrow. Too bad.

RIP Paul. Sucks you are gone.

Sad to see a young guy die. We can all go at any time...

I've seen pleasantville but I don't remember him in it

Rest in Peace, Paul Walker.

He gave a tremendous performance as a child with a disability on Highway to Heaven.

Fast & Furious 7 Production Delayed, Not Scrapped
The show must go on.

Following the tragic death of principal star Paul Walker, Universal has halted shooting on the seventh iteration of the Fast and the Furious franchise but will reportedly not abandon the project entirely.

Walker and the rest of the Fast 7 cast were due to return to Atlanta on Sunday for re-shoots following a holiday break from production, although these plans are now on hold until "Monday or Tuesday at the earliest," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Fast and furious Paul Walker

Fast & Furious 7 director James Wan and Universal held a conference call on Sunday to discuss how to proceed following Walker's death in a manner respectful to the late actor. Details on any possible rewrites won't be determined until the cast and crew have had time to process and grieve.

Shooting on the movie was more than halfway completed when Walker and his friend Roger Rodas lost their lives after Rodas lost control of the car in which Walker was a passenger.

"All of us at Universal are heartbroken," said the studio in a statement. "Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the FAST AND FURIOUS films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul's family."

Fast & Furious 7 is currently due out in theaters July 11, 2014.

Paul Walker's Full Autopsy Released: 100 MPH & No Drugs

http://www.khq.com/story/24113753/paul-walkers-full-autposy-released-100-mph-no-drugs

"Fast and Furious" star Paul Walker suffered multiple fractures and other traumatic injuries in a high-speed Porsche crash and was so badly burned that he couldn't be visually identified, according to autopsy reports released Friday.

Walker's injuries were also so significant that he was not a candidate for tissue donation.

The coroner's report states that Walker and his friend Roger Rodas were traveling more than 100 mph when Rodas lost control of the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT they were riding in on Nov. 30 at 3:30 p.m.

The car crashed into a pole and several trees on Hercules Street in Santa Clarita. The force was so strong that after the driver's side of the vehicle hit a light pole and tree, the car continued spinning until Walker's passenger side slammed into another tree and burst into flames, according to the report.

"It appeared that the vehicle was almost split in half," according to the report.

Both Rodas' and Walker's bodies were found braced for impact in a "pugilistic" stance.

Rodas also suffered multiple injuries to his head. His skull was fractured and his brain was exposed, the autopsy report said.

The limited-production, 2005 Porsche Carrera GT has a history of being difficult to control.

The sports car is capable of reaching 100 mph in under seven seconds. It was built without the stability management system that most Porsche models are equipped with.
