How safe is this medication? My 13 y/o cousin was given a low dose (to start off at?) of Adderall for A.D.D.

I know it's a stimulant and that it's a d-amphetamine. How does this really differ from meth? It seriously sounds like legal meth/coke.

My wife was on Adderall for a bit for adult ADD. It (no kidding) made her manic. She'd start throwing breakable things at the drop of a hat. We stopped that pretty quickly

Treating Adult ADD seems hit or miss.

Adderall is a very strong stimulant and Strattera has a black box warning for potential severe liver damage and suicidal thoughts.

This disorder is mainly about dopamine and to raise levels, stimulants work the best.

...Treat at your own risk, apparently.

I like to take it when I want to feel like I am on crack for a day! That stuff is crazy. I am not sure what medical benefits it has.

I know two kids that are friends of my children on adderall and they seem fine. They are 11 and 9, and are not related. The doses they are given work during school hours only. The doses wear off around 3:30 each day. The kids do not take it on weekends or during the summer.

* I will add that when I do take the pills, the really do make me feel 100% focussed and I do my job better. They do work. But they affect people differently.

2 different people, one could pass out and go to sleep taking the pills and the other can stay up for hours. Depends on your chemistry.
