Top seeds Karolina Pliskova and Johanna Konta began their grass court seasons in earnest, winning their opening matches at the Aegon Open Nottingham.
Pliskova took a wildcard following her first round French Open lost to eventual quarterfinalist Shelby Rogers, and recovered from a tight first set defeat to surge past Anastasija Sevastova, 6-7(5), 6-0, 6-2.
No.2 seed Johanna Konta also kicked off her grass court season in Nottingham, dropping just three games to comeback kid Victoria Duval, 6-3, 6-0.

Pliskova claims Nottingham title
The world number 17 and top seed in the tournament saw off American Alison Riske in a 7-6 (10/8) 7-5 success but it was far from comfortable for her.
Pliskova, who has been battling with a hip injury throughout the tournament, staved off six set points in the first and a further one in the second as she repelled a strong effort by Riske.
