Hmm, again I like both bands, but I'd have to pick the Chili Peppers. A more unique sound, their funk/rock/pop fusion sets them more apart than Aerosmith's pretty standard (but good) guitar rock.

RHCP, not even close IMO.

I think Aerosmith is okay, but The Uplift Mofo Party Plan was one of my favorite albums ever.

For you maybe, but some view Aerosmith as a top 100 artist all time, where as many don't view RHCP as one. In terms of cultural, musical impact, and influence, Aerosmith is above RHCP's.

Plus Aerosmith's greatest singles are much better than that of the Chili Peppers.

Dream on, Walk This Way, Sweet Emotion.

Sorry Aerosmith.. its RHCP and not even close at all.

I have heard many put RHCP in the top 100.. maybe I'm just a homer though

not that close. Aerosmith is pretty cool sometimes, but RHCP have sooooo many good songs. Just look at what they did with their last double album, that was incredible, and most people kind of figured that they had nothing new to offer.

To me its not a knock on Aerosmith.. I like what they do. But they didnt create something entirely new. The Chili's did that, they did what hasnt been done, and have been pretty damned good at it. Aerosmith is pretty damned good at doing what has already been done.

I thought Stadium Arcadium sounded redundant. The songs just blended together for me and started to sound the same. I'm a much bigger fan of their work on Californication and Blood Sugar Sex Magik. It wasn't as bad as One Hot Minute.

To BrianWheeler, they're not the first of their kind. There were other funk bands before Red Hot Chili Peppers they were the first to really implement spoken verse(rapping) into funk music. They were the biggest mainstream one to do it.

I'm not just talking Funk with the Spoken Verse, I'm talking with the inclusion of Rock into it as well.

Aerosmith selling out with "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" didn't help them in my eyes.

Okay they're not the first to do Funk Rock, well that depends on what your definition of funk and rock is.

Anyway I love the RHCP's but I don't think they're close to one of the greatest bands ever.

Parliament/Funkadelic, yo. As George Clinton said, "Who says a funk band can't play rock?"

fine.. AND METAL lol. I do love some P-funk though.

Sorry I thought I included the "fusion of metal" like Minstrel had mentioned.

Okay, I have a different definition of the genre Metal. In what song does the RHCP's include Metal into their workings. Metal to me is bands like Slayer, Pantera, and early Metallica.

It's "Crazy" with Alicia and Liv skinny-dipping with some poor farmboy sap, right? I think 94 was the only year I ever watched MTV.

Aerosmith>RHCP

Favorite Aerosmith song...

Aerosmith is not even close in this competition. If it wasn't for Run-D.M.C they would have disappeared forever as just another drugged up band from the 70's, and we would have been better off for it to cause they would have stopped making albums and shit singles like "I Dont Want To Miss A Thing".

I don't even consider myself a RHCP's fan and I still think they win this hands down.

RHCP but i'm bias.

Funk/Punk/Rap/Rock with a tad bit of softcore metal in the old days. What a great band.

Just recorded a 1 hour biography on them last night on the bio channel.

And how are the Chili's not a top 100 band of all-time? :dunno:

I have them top 20.
