A Daphne, Alabama man has obtained legal representation after he was severely injured by a Delta Airlines passenger's emotional support dog while on a plane Sunday night.

The victim, Marlin Termaine Jackson, 44, had his attorney J. Ross Massey of Alexander Shunnarah & Associates release close-up images of his facial injuries on Thursday (June 8) afternoon.

The images show a large open wound under Jackson's right nostril and another open wound running along his right cheek.

Multiple dark scars can also be seen around his eyes and face.

Initial police reports stated that Jackson was bitten by a dog owned by, Ronald Kevin Mundy Jr. of Mills River, N.C.

All three were on a Delta Airlines flight leaving Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta headed to San Diego that night.

Officials from Delta Airlines said the flight was delayed as Jackson was transported to a local hospital and Mundy and his dog were escorted off the plane.

Massey gave a more extensive narrative of the incident in the statement his legal office released.

According to the statement, Jackson was assigned a window seat on the left side of the plane. When he approached his aisle Mundy was sitting in the middle seat with his dog in his lap.

ccording to witnesses, the approximately 50-pound dog growled at Jackson soon after he took his seat. The dog continued to act in a strange manner as Jackson attempted to buckle his seat belt. The growling increased and the dog lunged for Jackson's face.

The dog began biting Jackson who could not escape due to his position against the plane's window. The dog was pulled away by Mundy, but broke free from his grasp and attacked Jackson a second time.

The attacks reportedly lasted 30 seconds and resulted in profuse bleeding from severe lacerations to Jackson's face. His injuries included a puncture through his lip and gum.

I've seen this happen in public a few times....saw one go after a guy in a wheelchair once....I'm not a fan of the emotional support animal trend unless they are for the blind. For many people who claim their dog is a therapy dog...I call bullshit. I know some people who claim these support dogs just so they don't have to roll down their windows when they park and check on the dog.

Why was the support dog emotional?

were you the support dog? you can tell us....

Those dogs are supposed to be trained. A guide dog is very well trained and will not just attack someone. They are selected for their calm and learn. This sounds too much like an ordinary pet that the person declared an emotional support dog. I have no problem with someone having an emotional support dog but it needs to be properly trained to behave like a service dog, not a nervous pet.

My sister-in-law has a schnauzer whose mainspring is wound way too tight. When she was wanting to move to the west coast from DC a psychologist friend was willing to write her a letter stating that this was her emotional support dog so she could bring her on the plane with her. Fortunately, we convinced her that was a bad idea. Otherwise, I have little doubt something like this could have happened. I think there should absolutely be requirements to document that these dogs have been professionally trained before they're allowed on planes.

I can't believe that passenger claimed @SlyPokerDog was an emotional support dog when we all know he is not trained

Put the Dog to sleep. That's what they do with crazy pit bulls right?

That dog wasn't putting up with the cultural appropriation. Black guy on a plane? The Wright brothers were white, thank you very much.

That dog is woke.

I'm just liking this because it shows determination.

My favorite one was years ago. There was a HUGE old woman on a scooter with a cat in her lap. It had a leash made of a piece of string and a vest that had the words "helper katt" written in Sharpie on it. Katt is how she spelled cat.

She was at a Trends West free trip type seminar with my girlfriend and I. That trip was the first trip to Vegas I ever went on.

Wonder where she flew her cat...err, katt?

Cultural appropriation must end....
Whoa whoa whoa. My neighbor Reggie works on planes, he's a retired vet too with three Lexus Ls4 series cars.

Are you saying I should take them from him as ill gotten gains? The black one he keeps garaged is immaculate.

It was a lab mix. The article says the guy is a marine and the dog was "issued" to him.

Damn to bad its a marines dog. I wonder if the dog just sensed something bad about the guy or his fear, or if it was just that he was too close to the dogs space. I mean a dog can't be racist can it?
