you saw the Aldridge part coming? maybe I havent been paying attention then lol. I saw the Roy one coming though.

I just had a feeling that since Aldridge didnt have a contract extension that him and his agent would decide against the risk of injury. Especially since him and Roy the same agency.

It's not uncommon, Big Baby pulled out of the camps too. Too much risk involved and they'll have more opportunities to play for the squad.

Ah good point, that hadnt even crossed my mind.

Ya, no matter how full some people want to say the glass is, I really can't see how anyone could view this offseason so far as anything but a bit of a failure.

We had the draft, and came away with nothing in the first round for this year

We had our 3 corner stones of the franchise ready to sign extentions, and haven't gottn that done

We had a ton of money to spend and have struck out thus far

We traded away or back up 1 and 4

That alone would be enough to say it has been less than good, but add in the fact that KP has been pointing to this summer as the one we were aiming for for two years, and PA said to "go for it" before the summer started....Meh I don't know how it can be looked at as anything but poor

Great job Blazer front office.

Why is it their best interests for Aldridge to play there? He might get some experience, I suppose, but he also could get hurt.

I think it makes sense not only to avoid rushing a deal to ensure he plays, but drag their feet to ensure that he does not.

I agree... it HAS to be a disappointing summer for the front office and I think that Blazers fans who aren't disappointed either were in the "Let it Bake!" camp (disagreeing with the direction the team was reportedly going to go) or are in the "KP is G0d!" camp, believing that any move he makes (or any non-move) is probably the best one.

I will say this: I'd rather have no moves than a bad move. That might seem obvious, but I think that some people would rather see activity than a good move. This team is young and while I wanted us to maximize our assets/available space, I think we were going to be a couple of years away from contention unless we really sacrificed a big portion of our future, which doesn't make sense to me.

I agree with you, but the whole no move over a bad move is hard to judge.

Jermaine for DD ended up a bad move, but would it have been if we had won the following year? Most people, like 99% of them, who called in to KFXX that day were laughing at Indiana for doing that deal. So who really knows if a deal is right or wrong until after it's done.

Maybe not doing a deal is the wrong deal too?

I didn't call in, but I remember that day, and I agreed with those laughing at Indiana. Hindsight...

I was thinking that adding DD was a no brainer, but I also told my friends that day that Jermaine was going to be the better player because Sheed and Grant used to say all the time that Jermaine tore them up in practice.

I thought it was a possible mistake. I also thought Dunleavy calling a TO while we were running up the score to take OUT Jermaine and put IN Sabonis cost us that game. I had notice JO doing an outstanding job on Shaq considering how physically outmatched he was. I was in the cautiously optimistic camp about the DD trade but had lingering doubts that JO showed quite a bit of talent...

Agreed. Although I'll still give KP the benefit of the doubt that he has the rest of the summer to do something, so far this offseason has been nothing but underwhelming. And I'm sure the FO didn't foresee it going this way.

It wouldn't be a complete disaster if Roy, at the very least, was locked up for the next 5 years in a max contract.

Ticktockticktock...

This offseason has been a complete failure. Mgmt has accomplished as much as an albanian albino monkey would.

Still better then a John Nash offseason.

Yeah, well whatever statement Vulcan or the FO tried to make by saying if they'd play hardball with Roy, they'd do it with everyone else, I think they made it. It's going near three weeks now. Time to get it done already, and give him what we all knew he'd get.
