Listening to Steven A Smith's radio show on my inbound commute this past week, I've noticed a stark contrast between his interview style and that of just about every other radio host I hear (both local and national). Specifically, he seems to present his opinions to the interviewee first and frame the majority of his questions around his own views on the topic at hand, rather than provide objective questions to facilitate the guest's commentary on his subject of expertise.

So it made me wonder how other people feel about this. Regardless of how you feel about Steven A Smith specifically, would you as a radio listener prefer your talk show host to ask questions in light of their own opinions, or keep personal views in the background when conducting an interview?

I'm mixed. I guess it depends on the combination of who is interviewing whom.

As for Smith, you couldn't pay me to listen to that pinhead.

I think they should balance the two. In my opinion, Dan Patrick does a great job of that.

I think Smith's show is horrible.

I can put personal feelings aside as I rather enjoy the BFT and even though I disagree with Canzano 70% of the time... I respect him and how he handles his opinions. Personal views in interviews are fine, its when those personal views are so strong that one becomes a babbling idiot and an a hole to his listeners/guests. That is a line that Canzano can walk and Smith cant.

Part of the reason why I enjoy listening to Larry King's interviews so much..................dating back to his radio days during the 80's.

i cant believe they got rid of szaban for this bum...unbelievable..

For some crazy reason, I like this guy. Doesn't do too many interviews, though.

I perfer my talk show host to have a clue about sports & people. That's why crapzano & smith don't get listened to in my ride.
