Dallas, a team that had too many post season failures before last season; and considered the stepping stone for the champions march to the title; are now considered a team with strides of greatness.

LOL @ that.

Think about this... We got unlucky facing them in the first round. They swept the Lakers (champions), almost swept OKC and man-handled the Heat. They were destined to win the championship. I have many friends that are Dallas fans. They said the game 4 performance by Roy and Blazers woke them up. They thank me everyday.

So tell me what other team could have beaten Dallas last season? Don't think our first round exit was a pattern of our inability to compete. Everyteam we lost to the last 3 years in the first round wither won the title or got damn close to getting to the finals.

So true. Right before the playoffs started there was a thread about the chances of teams making it very far in the playoffs. Dallas was given zero chance. As I recall in that thread I said they were the best team in the west before Caron Butler went down, but I certainly didn't think they could win it all.

Media didn't give them a chance either though.

exactly! And now like sheep many look at any move they make as moves God would make themselves. Odd really.

Well, every other team is going to look and the template of the last champion. Always happens.

Indeed, and talent wise we have the template. All we need now is an equivalent offensive system for all our talent.

LaMarcus Aldridge ≈ Dirk Nowitzki
Nicholas Batum ≈ Shawn Marion
Wesley Mathews ≈ DeShawn Stevenson
Raymond Felton ≈ Jason Kidd
Brandon Roy ≈ Jason Terry
Greg Oden ≈ Tyson Chandler
Marcus Camby ≈ Brendan Haywood
Gerald Wallace ≈ Peja Stojakovic
Nolan Smith/AJ/EW ≈ JJ Barea

I think the exact same thing . . . Mavs used to be critizied for having a great regular season roster but not a good playoff roster (they have had many dissapointing early exits from the playoffs). Win a title and now their moves are great moves to win a title.

Happend with Ainge in Boston. He was a terrible GM for years, put together the big 3 and then he is a great visionary GM.

Brandon Roy ≈ Jason Terry
Greg Oden ≈ Tyson Chandler
Gerald Wallace ≈ Peja Stojakovic
Nolan Smith/AJ/EW ≈ JJ Barea

i don't agree with these until I see this season pan out. I really don't think Roy is = to the Jet. At least from the sample I saw last season. Hopefully I'm wrong on that.

Gerald is much better than Peja, IMO

JJ is better than all those three combined.

I do agree with the other analogys

So the Dallas Mavericks are the "New Template"? Let's see . . . almost a decade of underachieving marked by several 1st Round Playoff Exits. Hey, we might ALREADY be copying the "New Template"!
