...for bullying unnamed posters.

Apparently, "bullying" is now a crime.

"It appears that Phoebe's death on January 14 followed a torturous day for her when she was subjected to verbal harassment and physical abuse," Scheibel said.

Earlier that day, Phoebe had been harassed as she studied in the library at South Hadley High School, apparently in the presence of a faculty member and several students, none of whom reported it until after the girl's death, Scheibel said.

Phoebe, who had recently moved to the area with her family from Ireland, also was harassed as she walked through the halls of the school that day and as she walked on the street toward her home, the prosecutor said.

But that day's events were not isolated; they "were the culmination of a nearly three-month campaign of verbally abusive, assaultive behavior and threats of physical harm toward Phoebe on school grounds by several South Hadley students," Scheibel added.

So arrest the school administrators for enabling the behavior and not policing the children placed under their care. And arrest the parents of the kids doing the bullying for raising their kids as douchebags. Kids don't just invent this kind of attitude on their own, they learn it at home.

Wasn't there a woman who was charged in this case and found not guilty?

yeah the myspace lady. i don't think she was ever charged though.

That was another case.

Cowardly bullying is a high school fad now.

I see that most of these kids are being charged with "violation of civil rights resulting in bodily injury". WTF is that supposed to mean?

it means they didn't actually break any real laws, they're just making them up.

Hm, I read about this a few months ago.

Apparently they slammed her head into a locker at one time and called her things like "Irish pig" and "slut" and other vulgar names.

But the fact that she committed suicide is the only reason they charged these girls.

Otherwise, these "bullying" and "civil rights" charges seem like bogus charges.

If she were still alive, I wonder if the media and the administrators and the parents would do anything about the bullying?

On the bright side, at least these b*tches aren't getting away with their cowardly acts.

Actually I think the MySpace lady *was* conivcted... but there was more involved... she was using someone elses account to do it. Threatening to do harm to someone else can get you in trouble for sure... regardless of how you do it. It just isn't something to throw out there lightly.
