Knickbocker please, Rasheed is just the same as everyone else in the NBA. If Paul Allen offered him significantly more money than anyone else, he'd come back here yesterday. He's no different than anyone else. Money talks and bullshit walks.
 
Why do we need Sheed? We've got a Sheed that is 10 years younger.

I love Sheed, he keeps it real.
 
It would be hilarious and great to bring Rasheed back. However, it would never happen. I doubt the Blazers would be willing to take the publicity hit and I don't know that Wallace wants a backup role.

I'd love to have him on the team, though.
 
Aren't there already enough 3 point shooters on the Blazers?

Billups was clearly the reason for the Pistons' success. Wallace lucked into being a role player on that team, and Dumars admits it in the latest edition of The Sporting News.

Rasheed is a <43% shooter from the field.

Ron Artest

Artest should be a target in the offseason. I can't think of any player that would have fit into this lineup. I think he is the most underated player in the league. Because of his "Issues" he will never get cridet.

Look what he did to LBJ the other night. Look what he does to Brandon.

If KP and PA can talk with him and see where his head is at, I would love to see a creative contract so that both parties could Divorce if it doesn't work out.

He is a Beast, who knows, he might find being a leader might make him grow up.
 
Artest AND Sheed. Weren't people saying we needed a little fire, toughness and edge? Plus defense? Done and done.

Folks, the economy is in free fall. Teams are going to be very, very, very, very reluctant to commit to:

Old players,

Players they have never had on their team before - unknown fit,

Players that have a history of PR issues,

Players that injury concerns, etc.

Rasheed has 3 of those 4 big concerns against him.

What team is going to be willing to pay him big money for multiple years?

If we're going to gamble on a veteran free agent with a checkered past and I was restricted to a choice between Sheed and Artest I have to say I'm much more intrigued by Ron-ron; the guy is bat-shit crazy and KP almost certainly would never bring him in (and there are good reasons to be concerned) but, unlike Rasheed, he can still ball at a pretty high level, plus he'd instantaneously make our team about 10X tougher. He would also have the credibility to get in the grill of some of the younger guys on this team when they screw up defensive rotations -- and most importantly I think he could be had somewhat cheaply.

As others have said no Sheed for PR reasons.

Artest would be awesome, get him on a 1year deal then we can cut him if it don't work.

He also plays very reckless and thinks he is a better shooter than he really is. If anyone saw him play tonight, he pretty much lost the game for Houston with his shot selection down the stretch.

I'm sure Wallace would LOVE a back up role. As long as they CTC. He loves blending in with a team. He volunteered to come off the bench in 99.

Billups himself said that the Pistons won the title because of Sheed. They asked him what the #1 reason was and he said Sheed. Without Sheed, Billups doesn't take that team to the Finals and beat the Lakers. Uh uh. Not happening.
