(Reuters) - Quake-hit Japan faces a recovery and reconstruction bill of at least $180 billion, or 3 percent of its annual economic output, or more than 50 percent higher than the total cost of 1995's earthquake in Kobe.

Even though some extreme projections of the longer-term costs project figures closer to $1 trillion over several years, standard tallies akin to those used after the Kobe quake hover around this level.

No biggie.

Obama can write them a check, and the Chinese will cash it.

Or you could give them 1% of your profits from S2.

Bring in 4 unemployed Japanese to be moderators. You don't have to pay for transportation. They can do it from there.

This is catastrophic news for the US. Certainly they'll be purchasing some materials from us, but mostly they'll be selling our Treasuries to finance the reconstruction. It means less demand for our T-bills which means we have to raise our rates. Higher rates means more debt.

Japan pumped about $183 billion into their monetary system BTW.....
