Shouldn't Miller be on that list?

Or are you saying he IS the best since Porter and we decide who's been best of the ones between?

No, Miller isn't close to the best since TP. Strickland and KAnderson were both alot better, and probably Damon too.

But,.......we'll see come November.

"So I am starting to wonder if Andre Miller could be the best PG we have had since Porter"

I am thinking he could be, but we will see.

I voted for Rod Strickland, that guy could do a lot and he looked like a little devil. :devilwink:

He's the best PG since Strickland.

Think about that...

Dwell on that...

Our last good PG we had was 13 years ago.

Depressing.

wow..funny coincidence, I am actually in the process of writing a blog post about this very subject

Rod Strickland for sure. Otherwise known as Rod "Where's da Liquor store?" Strickland from an episode a few years back.

I was wondering why Greg Anthony isn't on the list. Hell he split PT with Damon.

Why isn't Erick Barkley on the list?

barfo

Strickland was a general at his position. The guy could flat out direct and dish. I would love to see him in his prime playing with the caliber of players we have now.

Worsts shooter from inside ten feet - I wonder who would make that list... Audi Norris? Billy Ray Bates?

Strickland was ahead of his time IMO. The prototype score first PG who still dishes the ball a lot. There were others who were primarily scorers, like Kevin Johnson, but Strickland and Terry Porter really ushered in a new generation. Magic was just a freak so I won't even mention him in the PG conversation. He did so much for basketball, it hardly needs to be talked about.

Strickland (in his first stint with the team) blows everybody else on that list away. Miller edges out Anderson (who was too selfish), and nobody else on that list is even worth discussing. (unless you're like me and start to scream curses and light things on fire everytime the thought of Damon in a Blazer uniform comes up)

Yea Rod Strickland the 2nd time around wasn't the Rod Strickland that had terrorized the league for a good part of a decade. Oh and I am with you about lighting stuff on fire thinking of Damon as a Blazer. Good thing I didn't own my own house then.

Yup, Strickland was our best PG on that list. I liked Kenny Anderson a lot, mainly because I love most Yellow Jacket PGs, but he wasn't on the same level as Strickland. Chris Paul reminds me a lot of him. Those two could finish at the rim with some of the craziest floaters and bank shots.

Strickland was a really great player when he was young. I'd say Miller is a similar caliber talent, but Miller is past his prime while Strickland was in his prime for Portland.

Wouldn't mind having prime Strickland back now. Of course, I also wouldn't mind a prime Pippen today, or even the Blazers version circa 2000.

Nice please link it in this thread when you get it done.
Its Been a Long Time
The 14 year drought of not having a legit starting point guard has ended today with the singing of Andre Miller. 1995-96 was the last season the Trail Blazers had someone running the show as a top 10 point guard in the NBA. His name? Rod Strickland. Its not as if this 14 year dry spell has been the exception, it has been the norm for a relatively young franchise. It only takes one hand to count the really good point guards the Blazers have had. By my count, there have only been 3, Bobby Gross, Terry Porter, and Rod Strickland prior to today. Gross won't be talked about in depth, because I wasn't born during his hey-day and never got to see him play live. But if you were the starting point guard on the only championship team in franchise history, have your jersey hanging in the rafters, and were considered the guts of the team, then you were probably great.

my bad, for some reason I thought he was a PG, must've been the tp jersey number connection..that part is taken out :doh

Even the later Blazer version of PIP could run the point very effectively and defend most anyone, too bad he couldn't stay free from the injury bug. To me he's a very obvious choice.

you know that ultimate team concept I spoke to you about recently where the question was who would give you the best chance of winning against the best of the rest at the peak of their games? I'd probably have a prime Scottie starting as my PG on that team.

STOMP

haha no worries, jut glad somebody caught it before more people read it
