Andre Miller to Portland being discussed?

He'd be a great addition. But would he really put us over the top this year if added mid-season?

If not, we can simply wait until the offseason and wait until he becomes a FA. I'm sure we will have enough space to sign him even with Darius' salary on the books (of course, we'd probably have to waive Frye and Diogu).

I suppose if he agreed to resign for cheaper before a trade was made, it would be worth it.

Money isn't the matter here. It's more the fact that we'd be losing a valuable asset in Raef's contract for only a marginal improvement.

Yeah, true, plus Miller is kinda on the old side, is he really worth it? The blog says it would do to Portland what Chauncy did for Denver, but i doubt the impact would be that great.

A good, veteran point guard would be nice, but I wonder what Miller would cost. He's still a great passer and he's been an efficient scorer this season. He even rebounds well for his position. But he's 32, so I wouldn't want to give up much since he's just a temporary solution.

I really don't think PG is our area of weakness..I'd like a SF like Wallace so Batum can play off of the bench.

Yeah, Miller is not as good as Billips. He might be as good a floor leader and passer, but he's a worse scorer and defender.

I'd probably rather not deal for him. In the off-season, instead of one max contract (considering there isn't likely to be a star available), maybe Portland could sign two lower-level players, like Miller and Childress.

Not going to happen. The different beat writers have all said that, if KP moves Raef's contract, it's for a big-time difference-maker. And Miller doesn't fit that mold.

Besides, the rumor is devoid of all specifics. If something was being discussed, you would think that would include Portland's outgoing players.

Interesting. I wonder who the SF is. Could Thad Young be the sweetener Quick mentioned? Iggy is the only other SF on that roster.

Miller is an upgrade and a nice stop gap until Bayless is ready.

I just remembered Quick saying the Blazers were talking to an Eastern team for a Pg and SF, could they be the team? Iggy or Young?!?

Lol beat me to it.

/\/\/\ beaten

I wonder if this is similar to what JQ was saying? Discussions with 6ers for AM and Iggy?

This does not excite me at all. I suppose if KP could find nothing else for RLEC, then I would be OK with a fairly straight across trade, but thats about it. It would be different if he had a couple years on his contract and were 3 years younger, but now, I am not even sure if he is an upgrade at all.

However, if Iggy or Young were involved, I would be more impressed.

Landing either of those SFs seems like a pipe dream.

they would want something major for iggy obviously. aldridge or maybe rudy/bayless/outlaw.

Iguodala is as likely to be moved as Caron Butler. He's an excellent young player, Philadelphia really has no motivation to move him.

Miller/Marshall for LaFrentz/Outlaw/sergio

My best guess. I'd actually like adding Miller.

Jason Quick did say another player was thrown in as a sweetener. Iggy is more than that. So the most logical choice is Thad Young.

No lets dream big Iggy and Miller for RLEC IKE and Frye and an unprotected 1st and a 2nd this year. Why 76 do it, for salary dump and because I want them to!!

I would LOVE to get Miller. I think he is exactly the kind of point guard we need. He knows how to run the show, and the Nuggets took a dump after they traded him. They didn't start playing good ball again until they added Billups. I think Miller would make a big impact on the Blazers, and I've been saying it all season.

How about that?

ROFL at the avatar.

Thad Young and Iggy are pipe dreams, honestly. Iggy has been playing great and they are REALLY high on Young who has star potential.

Natebishop3, Philly scoffs at that offer.

I have yet to see you come up with something... I wish you would, so I could make fun of you and call it a terrible trade. :sigh:

I do come up with random trades. Just not on this board.

That's a helluva deal for the Blazers, but if the Eastern team that Quick alluded to really is Philly, I'd imagine Thad Young would be more of a sweetener, whereas I see Iggy as the whole cake.

This deal works in the trade checker: and satisfies the requirements of the rumor -- Raef + two non-starter rotation players (but would probably incite a riot (Rudy leaving not Sergio ).

You're going to be hard pressed trying to make Philadelphia give up Thaddeus Young...

I would do it. Webster comes back and slides into the backup shooting guard spot. Yes, you lose Rudy, but I'm not convinced that he would want to be a backup all his career anyway, and he has good value right now.

That's why I threw Rudy in the deal ... As far as I know the Sixers are pretty well stacked at small forward with Iguodala (although technically he's been playing shooting guard this season) Rudy gives them a deep threat from beyond the arc and has a ton of potential himself.

I'm not saying it's going to happen, I was just trying to put something out there that satisfies the Quickchat rumor (PG + SF for RLEC and two rotation, non-starters) this does that.
