Interesting point by the defenders.
Defense attorneys argued that parents allow children to get pierced ears at young ages, and it would be wrong to hold cat owners to a higher standard.
Now the question is. Do cats have extra skin in their ears where no nerve endings are found to do a piercing?
I can see the defense case in this actually.

They had to file the case. The lady was next planning on both nose and nipple rings.

I have been straining with all my might NOT to say this was a case of pussy piercing. I really have. And I want some appreciation for it.

no, you just failed:tsktsk:

The cat doesn't have a choice on whether it gets the piercing or not, the kid does. There is no reason at all why a cat should have a piercing of any kind. I'm with animal cruelty on this one.

I don't believe the actual skin is more sensitive then say the whiskers. But cat's can have a problem of buildup of wax and ear mites, and I'd imagine that the ring would be a problem in that case.

But for some reason it's LEGAL to crop dog's tails and ears?!?

That should be completely illegal in my opinion too, as well as the common practice of declawing cats.
