When you factor in the actual costs to cleanup the pollution from other energy sources, and the actual medical costs associated with all that pollution, solar is already far cheaper for society as a whole.

They're advertising solar on TV here.

With all the government subsidies, 1 year of no payments on the loan you take out on the equipment, and ultimately the payments on the loan nearly equal to your existing bill.

Take away the subsidies and you'd pay 2-3x in loan payments what your electric bill is.
