Kershaw has an "Opt Out" clause for 2018, if he desires, while he will be bringing down $33 million in that year, and for a couple years thereafter.

To early to see his contract details, I am curious if Mike has a Opt Out clause, if he continues on his torrid pace, he will be worth quit a bit more than his new deal. Even tho' he is going to be making an average of $24 Million a year. In a few years, I got a feeling $24 million will be the new norm, for MVP-Cy Young, caliber players. What about Silver Slugger-Gold Glovers combined, the $24 mil, may be their new norm, and the MVP-Cy Young players, may be looking at $30 million, greed?

I hope Max tears his rotator cuff, in the freezing cold Detroit April weather, which is the worst winter on record since 1880. Hell the Bengals may see April snow. I think so. Kid has what, 3 more years before having a shot at FA? Nice to be able to be the only bidder in the negotiations. But the Halos could have given him league minimum plus whatever incentives....instead they got a discount on the back end for front loading cash.

Let's say this is DiMaggio/Mantle reincarnated, if he tests FA at the end of this deal, he'll be what, 28 and in his prime?

the consensus around the statistical community is that 1 WAR is worth around $6 MM on the open market. now i know trout wasnt on the market, but his contributions have been worth roughly $100 MM in the age 21 and 22 years of his career. by a rough estimate, in the next 7 years (the extension kicks in NEXT year, this year he is signed for $1 MM), and adjusted for inflation, he is projected to be worth over $400 MM for the duration of the contract.

had he played this year out, he would have been arbitration eligible next offseason, and likely been in line for salaries of $14MM/ $18MM/ $24MM give or take, lets say $50MM lowest case. in that sense he gave up 3 years of free agency for around $90MM.

he will have just turned 29, and likely in line for a gigantic deal at that point. baseball is a fickle sport, and he could lose his mojo at any time, or get injured, but at this point, he is on pace to be the best player in the history of baseball not named babe ruth

The 2nd best player in baseball IMO, was Willie Mays....Trout has another 17+ years to prove he's on the same level with Say Hey, and I doubt he will be as productive over time. Don't get me wrong, I love to watch phenoms perform, and challenge old historical records, and the players who set them.

I do have Clemente, Koufax, R.Maris, Brooks Robinson, B.Gibson, Lou Brock,C. Flood, Carlton, Yaz, Munson, Seaver, Carew, rookie cards and a ton of others, to lengthy to mention, rookie cards.

But no, Say hey...!!! (Shucks-Druthers, as I never will, I'm guessing) I don't have many player cards of rookies, prior to 55, I do have a rookie Alvin Dark's rookie red back Bowman. A 38 Red Rolfe is my oldest card, but he's not a rookie in that decade.
