I knew how absurdly cheap China could ship things to us by the USPS. I didn't know the mechanism that caused it. I found out about it by chance when my wife bought something on Ebay direct from China and the cost of the item and shipping was less than I could probably ship it to my mom in Washington. Didn't make sense to me. Now it does

Tentatively I will give him credit for this. Since the situation isn't resolved yet, there's still a chance for it to turn into a small disaster instead of a small win.

Link didn't work on my side....nice to see you give Trump this thread bodyman...I never knew you were such a Trump hater...a broken clock is correct twice a day so if Trump does something and it turns out ok...well that's always a good thing eh? I'm not holding my breath when it comes to his approach to global economics....

We need to build a wall so no one can ship your mom to China!

Yes, the stuff from China has all sorts of wrinkles that come with it.
First is the shipping here. Essentially for the small stuff, shipping is free and it negates the need to actually support a warranty on the product.

Take as an example, a small digital volt meter, that may be ordered with display in the color you want, choices of Green, Red, Blue, Yellow.
$10 bucks, Free shipping, 1 year warranty, Purchase price fully refunded if order not right.

It may take going to the trouble of doing this three times to get one the right color that works more than a few days. A real pain.
First to get another, one that works, or is the right color, you need to return the one received to the shipper in China. Cost via shippers available to the US consumer? Perhaps $20 bucks. Too get a refund of $10?

The shipping for much of this stuff is near to free for the business in China, as there are so many ships coming to the US with major stuff onboard,
the the small stuff just sort of fills the gaps and cracks for near to nothing in cost. But that is a one way deal.

Tons of stuff like this where putting up with the aggravation is just not worth the savings over buying from a US manufacture. But
the catch here is, there are so many items where there is not a US manufacture of the product. Forced out of business or bought out years ago.

What is the right color for a voltmeter? Are you wanting to match it to your handbag?

You might like to match your handbag, go for it. I sort of like to use the colors that are less harmful to a persons night vision.

Better?

It's a murse and marzy uses it as an attractive and fun way to carry his bang bang thing.
In the grand tradition of the walkie-talkie, my daughter likes to give items rhyming descriptive names. A fork is a "grabby stabby". A defibrillator is a "heartie restartie". Would a firearm be an "unloadie explodie"?

Black, most meters are black. Ask me how I know.
