I can't tell you how much I hate the game thread, especially after an exciting comeback win like tonight. In the old days, you'd find half a dozen threads about some aspect of the game, and it was fun to chime in on all of them. Somebody would start a thread called "Outlaw is clutch!" and someone else would start one called "Another great 4th quarter for Roy," and someone else would be talking about "Rudy's return to his old self," etc., etc. You could hop around and see what everyone was saying, and there was a palpable electricity to the board after a game like tonight . . .

But now . . . we all line up and dutifully read through the long tedious game thread in order to be "part of the conversation." You can't just jump in and make your comment, because someone else might have made it 6 pages ago. So you have to slog through the whole thread just to make sure.

AArrrrgggghhh!!!! It's tedious and boring, and I think we should change it. Anyone else agree?

It's a running commentary that is live.... how could we replace that?

I have to agree with the premise of this thread, even though I wade through the entire game thread, every time. And sometimes I participate in them, which is a blast. But if I want to see any opinion of a game, I have to go to the game thread. I'm willing to deal with that, but I really do miss multiple threads per game.

Nah, then we'll have people starting new threads to complain about how there are too many new threads being started about each game.

You don't have to. I just think we should have several threads about the game going at once. However, I've been told that this is forbidden by the moderators, and that they want all game-related comments to be part of the official game thread.

I use the game thread during the game, and use new threads when the game is over.

Told by whom? There have commonly been spin-off threads from the game thread. When Batum had his big game against New Jersey, someone began a thread during the game about how it was great that Portland kept Batum, and didn't trade him.

Such threads don't get merged into other threads, so long as it doesn't get excessive (ten or twenty threads related to one game, for example).

A game thread, followed by a post game thread, with spin off threads about really important aspects is the route to go.

I like the idea of having threads on different topics throughout the game. Shooter, you ought to try this next game and see how it pans out.

I'd like to suggest that topics that will be relevant after the game is over are reasonable things to make new threads about; things that no one will care about after the game is over should be posted in the game thread.

For example, play-by-play calls like "great shot by Outlaw" or "bad call, that was no foul" are not thread-worthy and should be posted in the game thread.

barfo

Don't click on them, and create whatever type of post you want. You might try Blazersedge as well.

I wish I could get into BlazersEdge but it's just a jumbled mess trying to read posts and make comments and get into game threads.. maybe it's just me though.

I like the game thread, but I also agree with the OP that the board would have more lively discussions if topics generated in the game thread are separated into its own threads.

Yup agreed.

Weird.. the first time I've ever agreed wholeheartedly with Shooter/Talkhard! Repped.

Easier to wade through 1 page of new threads than 12 pages of a game thread. Makes sense Shooter.
