I saw Melo make three baskets ..one dunk and two of his backdown jumpers...the Lakers were hyped over it...just a highlight..didn't watch the game..I follow Melo's podcast so his hoop clips show up on my youtube page

As in the team drinking sport?

They only have 5 guys better than D Leauge call-ups.

AD LeBron Russ Nunn Monk

But even those last 3 guys are very weak for a playin teams 3rd-5th best players.

The rest of that roster are scrubs that have names but are not rotational NBA players in 2022.

It'll be a fun year to root against them.

Since when did older teams care about preseason? They're just trying to get a good sweat in and not twist or pull anything. Uggghhhh, stop making me defend the Lakers!

STOMP
Jordan always took preseason seriously. Also the Steve Nash Lakers were 0-8 in preseason and that was an omen.

Then you have NOTHING to worry about in those 4 matchups this season. Easy wins if they are THAT garbage right?

Anyone? Anyone? @THE HCP ?
Didn’t get a chance to see it. Family went to a soccer game, but I did record it. Damn, what did LeBron shoot? Westbrook must have played like shit. Going to watch it tomorrow.

The Blazers could beat any team in the league and lose to almost any team in the league on a single night. The other 78 games each team plays matters much more than 4 games.

Fortunately for the Lakers, all of those guys are iron men who are not at ALL prone to injury.

What could possibly go wrong for that team this year?

But if there as HORRIBLE as you portray them to be, they’ll be in our rear view mirror and nothing to worry about all season right?

I never said they are horrible, my points have been that they now have worst supporting casts than the last two years, and it's ludicrous how many are putting them up as an enormous west favorite over 82 games.

They have a bunch of big names that won't help them win. LeBron and AD are a great duo though which can make them a tough out.

Great take….. but is it any more ludicrous than claiming the Blazers are going to be better than them, when we have a worst supporting cast than we have had the past 2 years as well. You seem to know your shit, don’t let your hate for another team blind you bro.

It's just so much fun beating the Lakers that I don't understand why everyone wouldn't be excited about doing it all season....we might run them outta the gym all year....that ain't happening against the Warriors though.

According to some in here, the Lakers shouldn’t even show up to play us.
That would be disappointing...owning them in a game is not easy with the refs they own but if you do...it's worth a whole season of basketball!

I picked both the Jazz and Suns clearly above the Blazers.

The Blazers have a lot of variance and its very possible they have a real good or a horrible, bad season. We don't know how much coaching and scheme changes will help or hurt. We don't know about injuries to the Blazers or competitors. We don't know how bench production will improve or fall short of Melo and Kanter.

I don't see how my outlook is similar at all to claiming the Lakers are a dominant west favorite as is a very common national narrative, and I've said is ludicrous.

Judge your Blazers current roster as you have the Lakers is all I’m asking.

So, if the Blazers aren't good, the Lakers must be great? That seems to be your logic whenever someone points out deficiencies with the Lakers.

What if...the Blazers are mediocre and the Lakers are an old, mostly terrible roster that will depend on two injury-prone guys to carry all their success?

I believe I have. I've said the Blazers year has a strong chance to go very bad with trading Lillard at the trade deadline being the best move.

We aren't there yet and I hope that isn't how the season turns out. Maybe it goes great and we get a top 3 seed as Lillard has done twice, and we win 1 or more playoff series. I really don't know what will happen and each end of the spectrum has realistic chances, although contending is less likely than failing. It's not as fun to dwell on the failing scenarios so maybe those don't get discussed as much. I'd rather think about how the team can succeed and we deal with a failed season if it happens.

The thing is, nobody is picking the Blazers as a west favorite as many are with the Lakers, so there is no national predictions of Blazer success for me to argue against. If anything national media has already picked and discussed many Blazers failures with narratives of Dame demanding trades, which is totally false as Dame confirmed.

Where are the stories of LeBron or AD demanding trades to a real contender?
