Anyone agree McMillan stunted Bayless' growth?

What an epic fail by McMillan. If this doesn't expose his man love for certain players, I don't know what will. This isn't just focusing on tonight's game, but this kid has so much talent he should have never been buried on the bench. An absolute travesty.

I 100% disagree. Before this season, Bayless was not ready. He got some run, and was generally terrible. He put in a ton of work over the off-season, and is now ready to play.

Depends. What's to say that all this benching wasn't just what Bayless needed to work on the parts of his game that needed improving to get him to this point.

I just don't think we can know. But it sure is sweet to see him succeeding now.

It's sort of like a jockey that holds a racing horse back until it comes around the backstretch -- if he lets the horse run out he sometimes get tired and falters when he needs the juice, the horse does all of the "work" but the jockey sets it up for success.

Jerryd's not a horse, but young point guards (especially one and done scoring point guards) don't necessarily know what they need to know to run a winning team.

I'm not saying he was ready for full time PG duties last year, but besides this game he hasn't ran the point in great stretches. He defers to Roy like the rest of the players on the team do because that's the game plan. What he could always do was get to the rim and actually put forth some effort on D. Hopefully he builds on this and starts to become more consistent because his jump shot last year looked like Sergio's.

So do you believe Sergio was more ready than Bayless? That was my concern. I think it's pretty straightforward. How many games did Sergio win us last year?

Maybe Jerryd just wasn't ready, and the benching made him more hungry and want to work harder and harder to get minutes. Nothing was handed to the guy, and it could have been after the Summer League MVP, but he had to sit and learn. And now he's embracing this opportunity more and making the most of it.

It`s not obvious at all. JB was a 19 year old kid and was seriously not ready. He was not only not better than Blake, he wasn't better than Sergio last year.

Give Bayless some credit for how hard he worked to get ready this year, and Nate for bringing him along and no doubt motivating him.

Not by much, but yes in the end Sergio showed he deserved the back up spot. Nate wanted one of them to emerge as the clear winner and gave both of them many chances to win it. Bayless couldn't do it. But the dude was a 20 year old rookie.

I agree Bayless should have been getting more time since the beginning of this season, and Blake less (much, much less). I have not agreed with much of anything Nate has done this year, and the only things he's done right he was forced to do. But last year, Blake > Bayless. Never again though.

I think Nate did what any actual NBA coach would have done. It was too early to play jb. Some people want to blame it on someone rather than enjoy what it is. Kenny Smith and Chubby Barkley are the real assclowns.

Had he been drafted by another team, he'd already be a star in this league. Unbelievable as it may be, if we had had no injuries this season, Bayless wouldn't be playing at all. Crazy. But it does prove that we are the deepest team in the league. Our 11th man is better than Brandon Jennings.

You guys have short memories. Bayless struggled last year. As a huge Bayless fan I felt confident that he would be our guard of the future to team with Roy. But last year he was not ready. Hell half the fans in here said he out right sucked last year.

These last 2 games he's been everything you could hope for. Blame Nate for that, I guess.

Know I remember it quite well actually. I watched every game last year. Did he play like a rookie? Absolutely. I'm not saying his game didn't need major work, but everyone would be clamoring to trade Bayless right now like they were a few weeks ago if it wasn't for the injuries.
