Does anyone here do photography?
I did my first sports assignment of a soccer game yesterday, andI need some tips on shooting.
It was a night game under stadium lights. I used a Nikon D90 to shoot.
I ended up settling in at 1600 ISO, 1/200, and 5.6F for my shots. I don't think the 5.6F was something that I chose. I am pretty sure I was shooting in shutter priority mode, so the camera chose the aperture.
I toyed going with a faster shutter speed, but the pictures were much too dark as the camera wasn't getting enough light in.
This is something that I want to fix for next time I go out and shoot, especially before I have to shoot something more important, like a football or basketball game.
One problem I had was that I couldn't get my shutter speed much higher. With how a quarter second can completely change the moment, it would be nice to get to a faster shutter speed so I can get more snaps.
Overall, I'm pretty pleased how the pictures came out. They have nice color to them imo, but one problem I noticed was that the faces of the black players are too dark. And I'm not sure exactly what adjustments I would want to make, because I think the darkness of the white players in the pictures looks great, and makes the pictures look more dramatic. I haven't adjusted my photos in photoshop yet, so I'm sure I'll be able to make the black players faces look fine in then.
