It's basically $55 a week here for giving plasma. Go in twice, for 1 1/2 hours each time.

I've never done it before, but there are no jobs available, and this is good money for little time commitment, so I'm strongly considering this.

Anyone have experience doing this? What's the procedure like? Does it hurt at all?

no..i dont think they have it in oregon. but my sister in law does it...i dont really have the answer to questions though

Hell yea I used to give Plasma in college. Go give plasma (back then it was like $25) and then you could go use it to buy beer, but you wouldn't need to buy as much, because you were one pint low.

pure genius

they did that in HS. people got wasted after the blood drive. I couldn't give blood since I had a platelet problem (clotting) when I was younger.

I think plasma is blood minus all the red and white cells. The fluid.

Sounds good. I'm gonna go in on Friday, and then try to get in a routine of Tuesday and Friday.

It says 2 hours for the first time, because you need to take a physical first to see if you are healthy enough to give, which I will be. Then hour and a half each time after that.

I should have been on this awhile ago.

Just remember the problem with the plasma center: They're only open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Saturday and Sunday, they're closed.

I donated plasma in high school one time but somehow it got messed up and they couldn't take the blood they took out. The blood was all in the bag but for whatever reason they said something was messed up while they were taking it. Seems the same as when you normally give blood but I think it takes longer.

Any info on where to go where you can sell plasma? I'm totally down to sell plasma for cash.

I have been a plasma and blood donor and I worked at Portland Plasma long ago (crappy job, they treat employees like shit, but donating is safe).

As long as you are healthy and have no needle phobia it's fine. Do remember that the red cells are mixed with normal saline before being returned. The saline is chilled. Even room temp is about 20 degrees colder than body temp, so be prepared to feel really cold for a bit afterwards. They should have blankets but you need to ask for one. Get some hot tea or something when you're done. It's temporary and won't harm you if you're healthy.

Bring a book or an i-pod or radio with headset, please keep it low so only you hear it. Donating takes a while and is pretty boring, really, you just lie there immobilized.

You can donate plasma up to twice a week. Blood can only be donated every 8 weeks, since it takes about 8 weeks to restore red blood cells but fluid volume is restored within about 48 hours.

Let me know if I can help you with any more information.

I'm a regular donor (I give four times a year). So, I can give more often with plasma? Are there places that will take it for free? I don't need the cash, I just think we all have a responsibility to give blood.

Call the Red Cross. If you want to give plasma and don't need the money, you can always donate it to a good cause.
